I had the same idea but in the bow slighty foward a midsship. With an out board aswell. Jet drive For striking net so i can just run it over and have no problem.

I see you recessed the drive into the hull of the boat --- I have also seen it where it is mounted directly on the back without being recessed inside why did you decided to do that

Dennis Eckmann just wanted to protect it some. Without the recess it would stick out almost 16” . It’s just a few 1/4 bolts going into aluminum holding it together didn’t want any strain on it if we went over a log or something. I also plan on building aluminum tubing around it at some point to protect it further

If you flush mount it you need pods

You had zero penetration on some of those pieces. Do a quick search on here, idk what your settings are but doesnt look hot enough and wrong angle of attack. Might be better off with rivets in some of those spots. Welding aluminum is not easy like steel and most people don't realize it so at least it held up as well as it did.
