It’s a good attitude to have Trond, when wildlife photography is so unpredictable. Take the good with the bad, and just enjoy being out in nature and the fresh air 👍🏻

I have this lens paired with the 800mm f/6.3. I use 400 and 800 with the 1.4x they both are sharp. I traded my 600 f/4 off. I was concerned I would miss the f/4 but I don’t really. Keep up the good work.

Hi Trond nice video just to let you know that when I get a new gillie suit I bury it for a couple of weeks and then leave it out to air so it gets wet it will smell like the woods and mask most of your human scent. You should find it will help

Nice video Trond, I’ve had my 400mm 4.5 for about 3weeks, I was apprehensive at first, as my go to focal length is 600mm. Needless to say I’m in love with this lens. I’ve been using it for the red deer rut in the U.K., it’s light, tack sharp. Handheld video it totally doable. Blow away, it works great with the 1.4 tele, not tried the 2x yet. Nikon are smashing it with their lenses

I agree....the z lenses are awesome. Thanks for the compliment Adam!

the 2x is really good,much better than the old F mount.

Hi Trond! Nice video again. I have the 100-400Z and the 1.4Z and I couldn’t be much happier with it. Reluctant at first as the 400 was not available yet but after a couple weeks of shooting I am now very pleased with it! Very sharp ! Thanks again for your work!

Some days I get good pictures and a good adventure; some days I just have a fine outing. It's all good. NY Yankee's Judge set a new record of 62 regular season home runs, but he didn't hit a home run in every game. A large percentage of the time he struck out. But he was always in the game and he always had fun. I suspect you and I are the same way with our photography, Trond. It's all fun and worth the experience whether or not we get a good shot. :)

Nice video as usual Trond,thanks. Question,400 with a 2x teleconverter or 800 6.3. I have the 800 on order but as usual the wait from Nikon is torture,for both of these lenses. My 100/400 is awesome but I prefer primes.
@trondwestby2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I think I would have to say 800 6,3. Even tho I have not tried this, I recon its an awesome lense :)

I own the 800 and it is a gem... however it kinda sits in a niche. It is not good in hazy conditions, so you may want to use it early, but early usually also means dark. Also I find it straining to hand hold for longer periods of time. It really shines, when you have the right conditions tho.
@chipsrafferty83622 жыл бұрын
@@martinhild thanks for your response,my 5.6 was also a gem,sold it with understanding the 6.3 would soon be available,wrong of course,I could hand hold it for maybe 60 seconds and then to the tripod for me.understanding all of the negatives I can’t wait to get it,birding is just beginning so not too soon NIKON. Enjoy your lense.

great video Trond, its the way the cookie crumbles, better luck next time, it's good to see that it's not all plain sailing and you keep your positive attitude, too many people give up too soon.

Wonderful video, just proves something like the 180-600 is much more useful. Though I love the idea of a 4.5

Wow! Roe is incredibly shy in Norway it seems. Close to my hometown is a place, where they are pretty easy to photograph... if you can live with civilization (like vineyards) in the background. Great video. Hope to see more of you and the 400.

Another great video! How do you think the Z9 is compared to Z6ii ? I know it's two very different cameras, but is it worth the upgrade? Even for a hobby photographer?

Dang Trond, nice but expensive small lens. Well I guess not that much more expensive than the others. Are you going to try the 800m 6.3 Nikon. I have my eye on that lens and nikon z mount. Basically that might make me switch to nikon as the Canon / sigma 800mm 5.6 is 14lbs........
@chipsrafferty83622 жыл бұрын
I have the 800 6.3 on order,7 months and waiting.

Its a bit pricy. But great lense. I hope to test the 800mm as well one day. But its really hard to get hands on.

@@trondwestby trond, yes, $6500 here in the USA. That paired with the z9 both are impossible to get in usa now. So will wait. Glad you got a z9. Good luck my man....

@@chipsrafferty8362 Where are you located ? I am curious because B&H and Adorama both have them for pre-order but if one has to wait a year well then might as well not even plan on buying one........ Your thoughts ?
@chipsrafferty83622 жыл бұрын
@@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE in Florida,I ordered mine on day one from Adorama,it’s paid for by way of trade,they have no info as to when to expect it,I called Nikon directly and they don’t know either. I’m too heavily vested into Nikon gear to make a change,so I’m willing to wait it out,but if you ordered today from what I learned is it will be a year wait.

photographing deer is always a challenge, especially with a 400mm lens, and the wrong wind direction. You can't always control things like that.❤👍
