Testing the Red Iguana Silicone 3D Mold

Hiya duck in today's video we are going to be doing 3D gel polish roses and bows keep watching
So today I’m going be taking a look at this silicone mould by Red Iguana It has mostly roses on it in a bunch of different sizes but it also has a few bows as well and today I’m going to show you both.

So I have here the Aleana finger and she is wearing a coat of likeable and then I have gone over that with the matte version of JJ as well as those ill be using my Pro Tech Tool Kit T T T T my Alicia 3D Brush and my Cassidy detailer.
Now for the colours ill be using Lust, Pumpkin Spice and Issac for my first design and ill start by using my Allycia 3D to press those colours into the edges of the mould and try to get enough product to fill in any gaps then we can fill the mould with gel and give it a full cure on both sides
Now I can take my base coat and ill use that to cover over the opening and ill give that another cure
Now we can remove the rose from the mould and tadaaah! How cool is that! Now we will attach it to the nail and to do that I’m going to use the Nailchemys crystal totals gem glue and the design needle end of my Pammy picker upper then I’ll pop that where I want in and then give it a cure.
Now I’ll use a 3d brush to clean up any residue from the mould before I reuse it.
For my second design, I started out with a coat of white-out and then I used a layer of our flash gel that’s called Yasmine and then and then! I have got my SFX Gloss topcoat Roxy and give a layer of that to
Now for this rose I have a couple of yellows I want to use so ill going to use Issac and Tadhg on this rose starting with Issac and using my Cassidy detailer to apply that then ill can apply the Tadhg on top of that then again ill give both sides of that a full cure and place some base over that opening and cure again.
To attach this I’ll put my gem glue onto the nail and press that into the gem glue and give it a cure.
For my Third design let's try out the little bows that come one this mould I’m going to use the colours Dan and Griff and some Issac too then ill give those a marble on the pallet and scoop up that mix and pop that into the mould then ill do another very similar except ill pop those colour into the mould individually and cure those on both sides
While that’s cooking I'll paint the nail in Dan and give that a cure then ill go over the dan with my Gloss SFX topcoat Roxy
Now ill place the base coat over the opening and cure that
Now I can remove the bows from the mould and attach them to the nail with the Nailchemy gem glue ill add some gems to my flower designs and that's it!

I can totally hear Fay say “Why haven’t you used this on my nails yet” I love how everything came out. I have the same mold at home and when I use it I mix the gel polish with a little bit of a no wipe top coat. I find that the the roses 🌹 come out easier from the mold.

One of my favorite things to do with these kinds of silicone molds is to brush them with mica or chrome powder before adding resin, and I bet that would work just as well with gel! The powder ends up curing right in so it doesn't come off after unmolding. I get microbrushes from Amazon, like the kind that lash techs use, and they work really well for getting into all the nooks and crannies!

I do the same! I started working with resin last summer and then it dawned on me before the holidays to get gel polish and I could do my own nails! I used to paint my nails all the time but since I became disabled I just lost interest. I've done my nails a number of times now. I've also used the gel polish on some of my art and it looks so nice! Love being able to crossover interests!

I'm also an educator for Red Iguana😜another trick is to do it in 3 layers. First layer to fill in the petals, seconds layer to add colors to any bald spots, and the final layer to fill it will clear builder for strength😁 You use these molds PERFECTLY🤩👏👏

Oh my gosh!!! These molds are my ABSOLUTE favorite!!! I recommend 70% gel polish and 30% clear runny hard gel! It will cure easier AND gives the roses MUCH MORE strength! ❤️❤️

Love your work....try placing a mirror under your mold and then put the lamp above. The light will reflect up through the bottom of your mold,,,shouldn't need to be turned upside down.😉

😍 BEAUTIFUL!! I love the multi colors. Quick tip- to clean out my silicone molds, I use a piece of scotch tape. Just press it into the mold and it will grab any little bits and pull them right out. 2nd Quick tip, lol- If you want a curved back on the bigger charms, push a clear tip (upside down) into the top of the mold when you're curing the basecoat step. It will come out with a perfectly curved back and sit on the nail snuggly. 😊👍 🙏🥰 Thanks for sharing your genius ideas and amazing creativity!!

I have seen people that do resin/ uv resin in molds, but first coating the mold with Holo powders, chameleon powders, or chrome powders,...then they put in the resin/ uv resin. That could have some beautiful effects.

Cake crafter's use this kind of silicon mould all the time. I would check out UK cake making suppliers to get it as you can get them from £5 up depending on the design. Everything from flowers to lace to bugs

You could use UV resin in that mold and color it with the nail polish, take it out before it’s fully cured and shape it to the nail and encapsulate it in acrylic.

What a beautiful mold! One suggestion I have is to get a can of mold release for silicone molds and spray the mold after cleaning/before putting it away, especially if you're using alcohol to clean it. This will help keep the mold conditioned and make it last longer. I do this with all my good silicone molds for resin, cuz they can be really expensive and I want to be able to use them for as long as possible!

This is absolutely fabulous!!! When doing the color, remember to do the colors “backward” so the dimensional colors that will be in the middle will go in first and the darker colors will go in last.

Here’s an idea! So, once you have the gel flower made, place it on a nail and build up using the hybrid gel to fill in all the gaps and such (like when making one from the gel) and then use the e file to smooth it out.

Hi. Suggestion for the larger, 3 colored nail. Take yellow (lighter colour) brush it lightly deep down into the petals. CURE. Take orange and brush it thicker. CURE. Take last color and brush into the rest of the flower. The tips won't blend and it will look like a tricolored rose. I'd love to see you try it.

Try brushing some duo chrome powders in the mold and then drop in some clear base coat or just a thin gel. I think that would turn out great as well.

It's just like UV resin in mould's, the darker the color the harder to cure fully.

EXPERIMENT-O! I've seen April Ryan (the owner of Red Iguana) do some absolutely just drop-dead gorgeous rainbow roses with this mold. I have a similar one and they're so much fun to play with lol. I've tried gel polish and some hard gel and they both worked great. I think anything that's curable and a thin consistency would work just fine in these molds.

If you add top coat or clear builder gel with the gel it cures better and stronger and comes out easier. Red Iguana just did a tutorial on this silicone mold last Monday or Wednesday January 9/11 it was very informative

Fondant silicone molds would work really well. They aren’t clear silicone but they aren’t very deep so you can do a thin layer of gel color in layers curing between each layer.

I have and LOVE this mold. I used the 3D putty like solid gels and it was wonderful but gel polish that Kirsty is using is much nicer!!
