Testing the Sirio roof mount on the TC net

My red devil is still going strong on the top of my vw passat, like when I saw you up the long Mynd a few years ago. I got into the tc Charlie net a few weeks ago, Neil ct388 was in the chair on top of the British mountain and I got him from my perch down here in Whitstable Kent. Drilling a hole and fixing a mount is always gonna be better than a magmount. 73's Al and hopefully catch you on the radio soon. 👍

Yeah, I certainly seem to have noticed a difference it does seem to be working a lot better, thing is we can never tell if ground wave is good, but antenna is better grounded and ive noticed less noise when driving through the city. Cheers

Well that antenna was certainly working Al,some decent contacts there too. I am literally just about to finally put the vertical up today while the weather has calmed down as the wind over here has been horrendous all week.Have a good weekend Buddy…73’s

Hello I am coming back on cb after 40 years l a just bought cb master 3600 and the sirio boomerang 27A antenna what's your thoughts

Glad to see another station coming back. Not sure on the radio, but the boomerang can be difficult to swr in. I would get your self a mutiband radio like a CRT9900 and a bigger antenna. What's your situation putting antenna up and are you homebase?

@andycartwright8023 yeah that could be a problem. I myself are on the 5th floor, but I dont do to badly. You will deffiantly need something else I think. I use to use like a wire antenna called and Hawkins Thunderbot SSD 5/8th+ so if you could throw a wire antenna up a tree or something like that?

Alabamared256 here in USA... Don't care what anyone says but Sirio Antennas are the best. I've tried them other brands different ones but none perform quite like a Sirio..

I just bought a brand new 4000 Megawatt ans I can't for the life of me get it to SWR, I've even bought a new Mag base, bought one of those triple mag bases, an Open AM-911 and I'm gonna send it back because I just can't get on with it, I was out today and my Modulator was dominating the airways compared to my new Sirio, so that pissed me off, I need to find out why it's not turning in, I'm using a SS 7900v Turbo

very odd , it should work straight out the box ,I never had a problem with mine , didnt have to trim at all or make any changes , can only think maybe its the coax, maybe try the coax for contiunity. What was the swr out of interest? as in my opinion swr does not have to be 1:1 I would be happy with a 1:7 swr any higher and then i would worry a bit. Cheers

@@Al.26TC101 it was going right up to the 3 then fluctuating down to a 2.5, but my radio is SWR protected to 3 so as soon as it was hitting 3 it would stop transmitting

@@SomeMadRandomPerson Not sure about that then, something is not right somewhere, try your patch leads and coax is ok, I would say, but if it's working with another antenna ok, I don't know what the problem could be. Ive never had a problem with mine, so I can understand why you are peeved.

How do you SWR sidebands

I n normally go to around triple 5 on USB which is the international calling frequency, drop it down onto FM and see what my SWR is there ,or you can maybe do a long tone whistle on sideband and it should give you an idea of SWR. Hope that helps
