Problem: this falls into the same bin as every other "would be great for disabled people, *but* " product. It's _heinously_ overpriced for us. I struggle with muscle jerks while painting my nails, and often have to go back to clean up overpainting. I don't exactly have an extra $250 to blow on something like this, and if I did... I'd just go to a professional manicurist LOL

@@Menoetia Oh for sure! It's horribly expensive for what it currently does. I guess maybe the thought is that it would be cheaper long term if it actually worked? Might be good for people with social anxiety too. I could never justify the current price and outcome though.

I do design and engineering work on machines like this, and I can spot the problem: the brush stays vertical and only moves up and down. Nails aren’t perfectly flat, so it’s not physically possible for it to cover the whole nail surface evenly if at all. In its current form, it will never be a replacement for a human hand. If it worked well it would save money in the long run over regular manicures - even at $500 to $1000. They should’ve charged a bit more and given the brush head a rotational axis so it could follow the contours of the nail. Also they need to REALLY work on the quality of the brushes and the atrocious amount of wasted polish. I wish it worked, but I’m not confident in this company’s ability to follow through with long-term development needed to make that actually happen. The reviews aren’t inspiring confidence in sales numbers for version 2, if there is one. Still, thanks for the review, great video!

I was thinking the same thing. Gel would be better but when I saw what a terrible job it does painting the nails I thought what a nightmare it would be to get the gel off. It’s a really cool idea but it needs quite a bit of perfecting. And all that lint or whatever it is😬

I was really baffled when they _didn't_ choose gel honestly. But I see why: if the bot messes up regular polish (which i no doubt will) you can clean it up easier...

I was thinking about that too, but with the execution having gel seems kinda 'dangerous' (thinking of allergies and what not). Imagine it getting on your skin or flooding your cuticles and then having the UV cure it... Even with a better painting algorithm it seems a bit iffy using something like gel.

The time it takes really isn’t a selling point for me. We can do gel in just a few minutes. The quality of the paint job isn’t a seller either. :)

The lint is from your polish remover pads! It was stuck to your fingers in some of the shots before you'd put them in the machine. The application still sucked lol but at least the lint wasnt their fault.

It's a no from me, but it was very entertaining to watch you doing it. I grow and paint my own nails, regular polish, no gel. I do my nails once a week, it takes me about 40 minutes to do my usual 5 coats. Base coat, 2x nailpolish, glutter, and top coat. I turn off tv/music and do it in silence, it's therapy PS best thing about the robot was how good that red polish looked on you, even if it was a poor paint job

That is an awesome step stool for the bathroom for a toddler to step up to be tall and wash their hands. You were so sweet and funny during the demo. There was so much lint or hair in the polish I started wondering, where you stick the food? I'm worried about the poor, stressed-out imp trapped inside the machine named AI that has been losing their fur trying to get 3 coats of polish on nails in 55 minutes. AI must have the shakes for the finish to look so messy. Save the imps!

I think we shouldn’t give up yet. Looking at my own hand, I can see how the color between our skin and nail beds look awfully similar. I would try putting a black latex peel off pain on the skin to highlight the nail bed for the machine. I mean you shouldn’t have to do all of that for a machine to actually be able to do it’s intended job but I think it’s worth a try.
