It's a cool idea just not executed in the best way, the biggest mistake most manufacturers make when it comes to snow is underestimating how much power it takes to get thru it, a 450 engine would probably make a huge difference, especially if you have enough power to get up on plane.

There are track conversions for motorcross bikes that are a lot tricker and even the 250cc 2 strokes are underpowered. Starts at 400cc minimum and more is better.

If they made the engine for premium fuel only, they could probably get a few more HP out of it to make it a little more usable, along with a bit longer track. Guessing it's making about 20HP right now. Could maybe get 5 more HP with higher compression and 91 octane minimum. Would be the least they can do for that price. If they want it to actually be fun, they need a 250 2-stroke instead. KTM's XC-W has 47HP, and is fuel+oil injected for ease of use. However, I still don't think anyone would really buy it even at double the HP, lol.

Come on, that's not fair! _Of course_ the Freescape won't compete with a snowmobile of twice (?) the power when it comes to speed. But that's missing the point. You wouldn't complain that a dirt bike is slower than an SUV, would you? The actual question is what opportunities the lighter weight opens up, and whether the price is justified for what you get. The fact that it's so easily damaged certainly puts some doubt on that.

great video on this little stand up sled, but it's not the first one however. many were made in the 60's and 70's. one of this things problems is it's overengineered. they could probably cut the price in half with simpler designs, and then it would make an excellent machine for having fun and perusing the snow.
