@Val Yum the experiment here yielded false results because of her poor demonstration method. Hair drys on its own so the time between first half and second half alone skewed the time, but not only that, the ambient air and heat from the first half would have accelerated the second half as well. Hair is also often different in density from side to side. A more accurate experiment would have involved doing 2 complete blowouts with the same exact support product and tools and the same section sizes and method of drying.

I find myself covering it constantly and it will actually short my Dyson and I’ll be unable to finish drying my hair.
@briannasanabria28283 жыл бұрын
Some incorrect things here. First let me say I'm a licensed pro and have had both dryers and prefer the iq. Firstly, the gama has an autoclean is far better on the iq and it is way easier to take care of. Now, the experiment was a little skewed by doing one before the other because that other side would have been exposed to hair dry and ambient heat and air from the iq. Next, the motor in the dyson is in the handle which is why the filter is down there as well. The motor in the gama is in the middle of the top portion of the dryer which is why it is longer. Speed wise they are the same after using both on my clients. One of the big issues I have with dyson is their service. In a professional setting the dryer does not last long and once broken if you're even a little outside the warranty they will not help you. There was a licensed dyson repair shop in my area so I asked dyson if they offered repair services so I could pay for repairs instead of paying for a new dryer. They don't even offer those repairs. The gama barrel allows me to move more efficiently because I do not have to set it down and pick it back up due to design. There are a few things that I agree could be better designed BUT ultimately it's benefits definitely outweigh the dyson. For stylists wanting to purchase the gama dryer, visit salon service group. In addition to having a brick and mortar communication point to go through for warranty exchanges you also get a 90 day return/exchange policy over the 30 day policy from the site. I'm sure there are things I missed but this is just my take.

Lovely video albeit from a consumer rather than professional's perspective. Firstly I'm a professional stylist of three decades plus experience. The most important issues in the long run are: weight, power, ergonomics and, further down- sound. 294 grams vs 650 grams. Take two glasses with water of the above weight and hold them in outstretched hands. That will give you an answer regarding the importance of LIGHT weight tool. Secondly, ergonomics. There's a reason why hand guns are the shape they are. They are the example of close to perfect ergonomic shape. A 'T' shape is not. Thirdly, the short nozzle on Dyson renders it useless as a tool in blow drying in synch with a hair brush. When it comes to power, both are so similar, you're splitting hairs over it. A fact supported by the motor speed of both, which is phenomenal. I wish you had is the wider concentrating nozzle available with Gamma, which I use with hair your length. That would cut your drying time in half. I agree that Dyson has better cosmetic finish. The model shown in your video is already superseded by quieter and better version. And lastly, although seemingly louder, gamma has higher pitch and funny enough you can hear your client much better while drying hair as human voice is generally in the middle to low pitch range. Gamma should change the shroud covering filter into a one piece cage rather that the three piece convoluted contraption and yes, the nozzles attachments should also be perfected. Overall, personally, I consider the gamma a clear winner for a professional setting.
@melr21543 жыл бұрын
As a stylist I feel the length would be helpful because when I blowdry I use the blowdryers to catch the section of hair I am working on between passes... if that makes sense... so I feel like it depends on how you use the tool. :)

I am not a stylist and only occasionally use my blow dryer but I can also see the advantage of having the length as I usually use the barrel to help pick up sections of hair, but the Dyson would probably be my choice if I were going to choose one for home use... and of course if I was going to pay that much for one!! I love my $100 Wahl 😊

The Dyson had the advantage on drying time as the environment was being affected by the drying of the first side, plus the likelihood that some of the air hit the second side while drying the first. The motor in the Dyson is at in the handle, so the size of the head is neither here nor there. The Dyson isn’t particularly powerful, I’ve used it as a pro hairdresser. As I understand it, I’ve not tried the Gama as yet, but it’s supposed to be more powerful in airflow. The heat in the Dyson is also below the general pro hairdryer. It’s digitally controlled and designed to be cooler - which tells me (again) that a good amount of the work for side two was already done by the Gama.

There are a ton of apps that measure decibels (you said the Gama is twice as loud as the Dyson), and there has to be a simple way to measure the airspeed (which one holds the longest string up on high speed?). Also an actual weight that includes some of the power cord would be nice. What warranty comes with each dryer? What is the girth of each handle? A balance of facts with this subjective review would be even more helpful.

So the gama dries faster, is much louder in noise, is lighter weight, is better balanced in your hand but a longer device, has a locking mechanism so it's harder to accidentally change settings, costs $299 and is 1700 watts. As a professional hairdresser of many years experience, for me the Gamma wins hands down. Gamma 294g vs 650g Dyson is sufficient reason to win. On top of that ergonomics of Dyson tells me immediately there was no consultation with hairdressers. T shape of Dyson is useless, short nozzle is just as useless, as you can't support hair while blow drying. Gamma has to work on heat controls. The warm setting is way too hot. The plastic ring supporting filter barrel is useless. It should be made of nylon or metal. Otherwise the hairdryer is a dream. For most hairdressers the stress on ligaments, joints etc due to weight issue of driers like Dyson is a thing of a past. As for drying quality both driers are just as good as each other. Oh, don't know about Dyson but Gamma gives 2 years warranty in Australia for professional use. That's huge👍

Which did you find louder?

These gamma type things can be had for $50 now, even with magnetic attachments. Dyson seems very expensive compared.

Looking at both sides of her hair.... the shine clearly wins by the monster DYSON. The Gama side did not get as SHINY..... DON'T CARE ABOUT THE LOOK OF EITHER; HOWEVER, I am looking to get healthier hair; Shiny, less frizz, and less breakage.

Hey Mila, you should try to attatch the nozzles vertically, that way you don't have to lift the dryers as high as you're doing. They're lighter than most so not as bad on the arms, but hey, anything that'll make it easier to use is worth a try :)

I have the Dyson with Air Wrap so haven't tried either of the models you demo'd today. I prefer Dyson in general because they stand behind their products. The other hair dryer seems like it started out well and when it came to the attachments or switches they just used anything to get it out to market. Did the reviews you read say how customer service managed the issues the stylists were having?

We are a professional factory that researches and produces high-speed hair dryers. Our hair dryers have a stronger wind power than DYSON hair dryers and dry hair faster

My stylist uses both the Dyson and Gamma but the $450 Dyson failed after a year. But I preferred using the Dyson.

My hairdresser had to replace the dyson after a year it died 😔.

If I was going to spend that much, I would just go for the Dyson, the Gamma isn’t that much cheaper
