Licensed Esthetician speaking…. Clay masks are for oily skin and are great for removing oil and impurities from the skin….but yeah, super drying. So that CeraVe wash has salicylic acid in it. That’s the SA part. It’s really good for acne. It works by helping to shed the top layers of dead skin cells. Because it’s basically liquid form of aspirin it’s also great for inflammation and redness usually associated with acne. Those bumps on the back of your arms are called keratosis pilaris which is a super common and harmless skin condition that is NOT acne. It’s not preventable or curable…it’s just a normal part of skin. You can exfoliate to improve it some. And salicylic acid is an exfoliant. But it’s one that falls in the category of BHAs (beta-hydroxy acids). BHAs go deeper into the skin, this is what makes them so good for acne. For keratosis pilaris you would want an AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid) such as glycolic or lactic acid. AHAs work on the outer layers of the epidermis by removing extra keratin. Keratosis pilaris…keratin….see….there’s a link there! However, again, it’s not really curable. It will help some but maybe not entirely. You can also use a mechanical exfoliant (BHAs and AHAs are chemical exfoliants) like epsom salt or sugar scrub or even coffee grounds….any of these can help remove the bumps temporarily. And get rid of that scrubber thing. It’s going to hurt your skin. The take away shine thing does actually work. You (Rachel) have no shine because you just dried the hell out of your skin with a clay mask. LOL Hope that helps. And I hope those bumps on the sides of your eyes are gone Rachel!

The Bubble Clay mask can be used in different ways but doing some research (solely because mine arrived with the entire jar written in a language I don’t understand) you are supposed to wash your face as you would do normally and apply the mask to a damp face (keeping away from your eyes, mouth, and nostrils) and leave it on as long as desired (usually I do 5-10 minutes if possible). Before washing the mask off you can massage the mask into the skin (I feel this helps to maintain moisture for my skin)until it is smooth and it looks like a more traditional clay mask. I then wipe it off with a damp towel or makeup removing towel. If I do the mask in the shower I do all the same steps and while waiting for it to bubble up I do other things like shave and wash my body and wash then wash it off. Using it in the shower is less messy and keeps my skin moisturized a little bit more then when I am using it out of the shower. I find it very relaxing and my skin feels very nice afterwards but I still use my moisturizer after I wash it off and my face is still damp because I have very dry skin. My nieces who are 3 and 7 love the bubble clay masks that come in sheets because they make everyone look like “green monsters”!! The mask sheets are also a lot less messy and perfect for kiddos who want to enjoy a spa night with mommy, daddy, friends, and family!!

I owned the Revlon Oil ball thing. Fun fact: it isn't a pumace stone. It is a ball of pressed power. I rolled it on my bare face and noticed that it wasn't absorbing oil but putting a fine powder over it. I rolled it across a white paper towel and ivory/tan powder streaked it. I hated it.

That bubble mask is the worst feeling for anyone who doesn't like being tickled, or has sensory issues! The body wash is amazing for people who actually need it (your arms look fine to me!), like people with KP, but it can only be used every couple of days, because SA is salicylic acid, like in exfoliating face washes for acne. Not great on already-dry skin, I'd imagine your arms are in desperate need of lotion! The little TonyMoly octopus thing mostly just scratches up your face and leaves the little beads behind, looking like a lot of blackheads pulled out. It does a little, and it's adorable, but it's way too abrasive for most people, so be careful with how aggressively you use it. Also, you can just use sweatband on your wrists when washing your face! Just as effective, because it's designed for that purpose, but in reverse (to stop sweat from dripping down your arms onto your hands, messing up your grip), and usually much cheaper!! That oil absorber thing is gold, though. So simple and so smart, naturally porous stone that is infinitely reusable if you care for it properly. They also make a little metal ball to go in there, which you can keep in the fridge to make it cold, and it helps with undereye bags (same as a cold spoon would, to be fair) and feels amazing on your face in the hot summer months! I love videos like this, and it's kind of fun that I was already familiar with all of the products for once! Usually they're brand new to me!
