Tests Prepare Power System for Big Quake

A Portland State University laboratory recently simulated a major earthquake with a "shake table" to test new devices that should help the power system withstand big tremors. The devices dampen the shaking with the goal of minimizing damage so electricity keeps flowing for critical public services. BPA has reinforced many of its facilities against earthquakes and will continue that work in coming months.
