The introduction of modified seals, gaskets and drive train components, as well as improved driver training and sufficient maintenance improved the tank's mechanical reliability.[39] Statistics from 15 March 1945 show reliability rates of 59 percent for the Tiger, almost equal to the 62 percent of the Panzer IV and better than the 48 percent of the Panther that were operational by this period.[34]

Wouldnt the tiger have broken down / ran out of fuel before that?
@danielsoto89343 жыл бұрын
@@kocant1274 breaking down, yes. The transmission would have most likely went out...but the germans had outstanding field mechanics that could fix it on the spot which was recorded many times. As for the fuel, I'm not a tanker and I haven't been to a tank/armoured division but I imagne that they would do everything to prevent the tank from running out of fuel, it would be taking out the mobile aspect and in turn will make the tank "just a stationary canon". That is of course if the tank remains on route. War throws curve balls, if a tiger from a panzer division survived a ambush but had to flee its designated destination/route, I think it's very possible to burn through all of your fuel If you cant make it back to base.
@kocant12743 жыл бұрын
@@danielsoto8934 The tigers were fuel guzzlers and late war Germany didn't have much fuel/resources
@danielsoto89343 жыл бұрын
@@kocant1274 Tanks were essential to the blitzkrieg. I'm pretty sure they sacrificed other things to keep the panzer divisions, but more specifically tiger tanks operating. After all a tiger could wipe out a whole U.S. armoured tank division with minor boo boos I think the Nazi's used tigers in their last stand against the Allies. The reason I say this is because as the war was ending, the U.S. was still trying to develop tiger tank destroyers.
