GREAT demo/review video. I especially liked the honesty where you initially had trouble putting the base in the ground. Plus, your reaction when Sadie started playing with it right away with barely any coaxing. I think this would be a great activity toy for many dogs!

The manufacturer demo says don't use a hammer because it bends the base. Use a rubber mallot. And level is not what she meant. Plumb is the term for not perpendicular. Other than that, great demo.

OMG, you are so John Henry. Seriously, that was a substantial bit of sledge hammer for a small woman, or for anyone else for that matter. I have been studying this...device, "tether tug". I'm leaning more towards DIY. Your presentation is excellent, as you address so many aspects of this device. Your dogs are beautiful. I must have one of these! This is a good idea. i bought one and my dogs went nutz. i can see the issue with it getting tangled a bit however once my dog let go it unwraped around and "moved" so he went after it again. my problem was after 30 min of malinoise play it came loose from the ground. i found that they sell a stabilizer to keep it in the ground and upright. waiting for it to come in so i can reinstall it and sit back and enjoy the craziness.

thought the pole would free spin in the base. i can see the issue with the rope wrapping around the pole. not to mention the pole is already bent in the vid.

The pole is not bent, it's the hole that's widened as explained in the video.

this is a cool dog toy but can anyone attest to how long dogs will play with this before losing interest? I am pretty sure my bull terrier will instantly take to it but maybe after a week or so and left alone, i can see him loosing interest and it will go unplayed with unless I instigate play. I know all dogs are different and such with different living circumstances but in general if anyone has had any long term experience with this comments would be appreciated.

GREAT IDEA!! maybe call it a "SPRING POLE" if you make one and your dog's rear legs can't stay on the ground. you WILL get busted for animal cruelty.

@@richard4135 OMG maybe just set it up, so your dog's hind legs stay on the ground. I had no idea that strengthening your dog's hind legs, neck, and masseter muscles was animal cruelty.

Just got the 70lb one for my crazy girl. Worried she will still pull it down and she is only 45lbs. She is beyond aggressive tugger! Beyond strong x100. She splits rocks....hence her name ROX! Kiiiillllls

I did NOT see your dogs go around the pole, mine is getting wrapped around the pole not a good thing.

wheeping willow2 4U you probably installed it wrong or have the wrong size for your dog because it's made to spin around on the top so it doesn't get tied up.

There is NOTHING to installing the thing, it appears, you think Im stupid. You probably dont even have one, and just being contrary. You put the pipe in the ground and stand the POLE in the hole, what is so difficult about that? The problem IS the product is messed up. The rubber thing or what ever that material is that the rope is attached to at the TOP of the pole, IS PERMANENTLY BENT OVER, it should not be so, that is whats causing it to wrap around the pole shaft. It should have been straight up, not permanently slanted DOWN, in a FIXED POSITION, this is whats causing it to wrap around the pole. My dog is now 6 months old, a Labrador puppy, who since I purchased your product is now about 65 or so pounds and still growing. He had no problem latching onto the soft braided tug toy, although it came unraveled/un-braided the first day of his play, wherein I had to re-braid it. As for the heavier one, so far that is ok. But seriously this is not MY problem its the TOY. I appreciated the discount they gave me, but it appears that apparently, I got a factory reject due to its being FLAWED.
