I have one of these for my 300 gallon pond with koi and goldfish and it has done a great jobs. We’re in S Texas so it rarely freezes and the filter has run nonstop for about 10 years. My only gripe the filter needs a back flush every 7-10 days. It’s easy but a constant chore

Thanks. We have been very satisfied with the results of the filter. Kept our fish healthy and water clear.

IMPORTANT: If you live in a climate that ever goes below freezing make sure you disconnect and bring this thing indoors every winter. I made the mistake of not doing it this year and the water that was pooled at the bottom of the cannister froze, expanded, and cracked the basin. Also it would be nice to know how often you clean the media and HOW??? it takes me three hours, a pressure washer and a large metal garbage can and I end up doing them one by one. So frustrating. I try to do a full clean at minimum once a year.

Hello, I have a question I hope you can help with. I just got a BP1500 filter similar to the one in your video. However, after installing it and plugging it in, it was just dead quiet and I didn't hear the motor running or see water being circulated at all. I tried calling customer service but it was non-existent, and there was nothing in the manual about trouble-shooting. There was power coming in (the UV light was on) and hoses were properly connected. I don't know what the problem is except maybe I got a bad unit? Was yours on and running immediately after plugging in? Any info would be much appreciated and thank you.

Mine worked right away. My guess is it is a bad unit. Try and return it.

@@FamilyDIY I came to realize that this is just a passive filter and there's no built-in water pump and it requires an external pump to work in conjunction with, haha. Silly me. I thought it was an all in one unit but nope. I went and got a separate pump to get it working (sigh). Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

I have a pond without fish. Can you tell me how to get rid of green water. Will the above filter with UV help?
@FamilyDIY2 жыл бұрын
Yes, UV does help. Chemicals do it faster.

We just purchased a home with an existing goldfish pond and this filter. How often to you need to use the backflush? Once a month? Once a year? HELP !!

I dont know if there is a golden rule when to do the back flush. But if I start to see the water flow slow down, i do a back flush.

Your water wont come out perfectly clean but give it a few minutes to do it job. Great fertilizer for our plants.
