When I changed the bearings on my 753 F I put the machine up on jack stands. Then, instead fighting the sprocket bolt I put the wrench on it, fired up the engine and used the power of the machine to break the bolt free. Worked great, though I am sure I will now get a lecture on how dangerous this was.

Great video! I learned a lot!. I started out on the old M-600's, belt driven with a Wisconsin air cooled engine back in the 70's. Today @ 68 yrs old I still own a s185 bobcat one the most handy machines around!. I still work on my equipment and vehicles myself and I must say your videos are very helpful especially at today's prices.

Very informative video. I recently installed new axle bearings, races, seals, sprockets and chains on one side in my S300. With the help of your great advice, I was able to get it done. You are so knowledgeable, and I am so jealous.lol. Thanks for all the information you share.

I didn't realize that after guessing on the torque that going "click click" would certify the correct torque. Great to know that after all the years of guessing. On a serious note, I would tighten a simular nut to get the feel of it and then tighten the nut to tighten. Good video as usual. John

Super video. Don't own a Bobcat but when I saw the title of the video I just had to see how you did this. Wanted to up vote and comment but had watched it on TV so couldn't. But took the time to find it on the computer so I could commend you and up vote. Thanks again.

Very helpful, similar to my 743 but there is less access to the rear chaincase on my 743, and hub and axle are 1 piece. The hardest parts for me was getting the sprocket back onto the axle, you made it look easy! And getting the seal installed straight and seated, since my hub was in the way. I didn't replace the inner race because I thought would be too hard to install, didn't know your trick with dry ice!

Thanks for posting. I just picked up a 753 and the right front axle was leaking.. using this video, I fixed it! Only thing I did differently was use a slide hammer to remove the outer race. I had to buy the wrench and wrench extender, but now I have them.. Thanks again.

Hello there, great video. Perfect tips. I'm about to tackle an S300 rebuild, there's what appears to be a water cooling hose about 1.5" round in the way and other 3/4" hoses connected to some sort of a pump right on top of the cover. Also the 4 large hoses (hydraulics maybe) in the center are kind of closer together than what you have in your machine. Do I have to remove these hoses? All of them or which ones? I'd appreciate your input if you've ever worked on an S300. Thanks pal.
@stephenrountes
@stephenrountes 2 жыл бұрын
Those are all going to be hydraulic hoses, it makes the job a ton easier if they are removed. I’ve had some luck using zip ties to hold stubborn hoses out of you way on jobs like this 👍
@Order-in-Chaos
@Order-in-Chaos 2 жыл бұрын
@@stephenrountes Thanks Steve, I was hoping there's a way without going through disconneding these hoses because they have larger than normal nuts which require me to purchase large wrenches but I guess there's no way around that. I'm going to tackle this job soon. Thanks again Steve for your input. God bless and Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.

@@Order-in-Chaos Having a few wrenches bigger that 15/16ths is great when you own a bobcat. 1 1/6, 1 1/8, 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 are the only ones you should need. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your loved ones as well!

Thanks for the comment. I personally use whatever is available at the time. It's just a chain case and bearings. I think any AW32 or AW46 would be fine. I just filled this chain case with motor oil. Bobcat is selling their 2.5 gallon hydraulic oil for $80 so that would have cost me $320 to fill the case.

My 843 was designed with a one piece axle, then the last model of the series they decided to switch to a 2 piece, so instead of just replacing the oil seal. you have to remove all the controls and plates where your legs go, my machine was so rusted it took me 3 days to get to the chain case. Then if you want to remove the rear axles you gotta pull all the pumps from the belly... What a joke... Someday I will replace the back 2 axles with the later model ones... Some day.
@Pogimo68
@Pogimo68 2 жыл бұрын
I bought a 533 and am going through all what you said. Everything has to come out and I had to cut the big hydraulic hoses (3 out of 4) all this to replace leaking seals. My left side is leaking so I have to do the back. Those axel bolts at the sprockets are giving me problems. But once it’s done it should be great. It would have been so nice just to take the hubs off and replace the seals. Good luck with your machine

@@Pogimo68 I finally got mine running with a repower using an ISUZU generator engine 2.4l.. Then I decided to power wash it and the power washer eroded an access plate on the belly of one of the hydropumps causing it to leak. Now I have it in pieces and rebuilding that pump and had to locate a new casing for the pump.... Long story short I am ending up replacing almost every single hose in the belly and hard lines too.. What a PIA. But at least if I have to service it again those hoses will come off without the force of God F my life..
