2:17 You shouldn't have moved the exclamation mark over. That could have been used to break apart the stuff up above you. But you used it in the chain, and ran out of blocks. That's why you lost. I make sure to have enough blocks at the end so I can start an even bigger chain out of what's above me.

Also there is a technique I think fellow tetris attack players should know, incase they don't. Dual switching,which is when you use the A AND B button to double up your switching speed. It's hard to pull off im still practicing it now O_O well hope this helps you guys ":D

It wasn't his ridiculously large chain that screwed him over in the end, it was the fact that he started building another chain afterwords instead of concentrating on destroying those blocks

His technique was all offence, and no defense. I've seen some tournament games, and older tournaments the players are always super agro, prioritizing chains over clearing garbage; in more recent tournaments, it seems to me most of the finalists are on the more defensive side; they don't have to out attack their opponents, just out last them.

Yeah. I think the secret is to make a lot of 4-8 chains instead of a really big one. My brother and I could easily have 30 minute rounds against each other. Those matches were intense. If this ever comes out on the Wii I might consider buying the system just to play against people online.

This was tool-assisted. Me and my friend had a 7 minute match of switching large chains getting all the way to 30 - 40+ on the SNES with real controllers on a real Super Nintendo. Chains that large really get the SNES to slow down. You only got a 26 or 27 chain. It's funny to know that no matter how large your chain is, you can still lose.

The recording is tool assisted, not the game, I think. I used to play this game alot with my friends, about 15 years ago and we had chains like that many times. Maybe because the SNES would slow down because of all the on-screen action. One round could last as long as an hour and a half :) I recently started playing Pokemon Puzzle league which I downloaded for Wii and it's much harder, since it doesn't slow down. 3D mode is awesome :)

he's fighting the cpu on level 7, he's using some form of assist that's how he able to move the block to there place without actually seeing them form (in the case of his garbage blocks.)

No, in the snes version of tetris attack you can continue your chain as long as the gardage starts clearing while your chain is still going. This is not the case for the later tetis attack/panel de pon games such as Pokemon Puzzle League/Challenge or puzzle league GBA where you have to chain until the garbage falls.
@AkumaAPN
@AkumaAPN 11 жыл бұрын
When you have two people that know what they are doing, it's easy to do this without tool assist. You have the opponent put a free-hand (no trash block assist) 10x, 10x, and 12x on top of you, you can slowly work on the first 10x while he makes the other 10x and 12x. Eventually, the second 10x will become a 9x, and you can get it all the way down into the screen, allowing the 12x to spawn, before beginning to clear both. Now you have ammo to do a 40+ chain. My brothers and I liked to do this at video game parties to show off, back in the days before youtube. =) In this scenario, the hardest part is transitioning to the 12x brick. After it has spawned, it will be reduced to an 11x with the first clearing, and thereafter be insulated by a layer of shapes. When you are clearing the final row of the previous block, you can get a lucky vertical 4 combo to reach the 11x, or you must scramble a free hand chain, and keep it going while you clear the 11x trash block. If another free hand chain connects after the trash block has begun clearing, the transition will be successful. The vertical 4 combo transition isn't all that rare, perhaps 1 in 5 chance, or 1 in 10. But most of the time, you'll have to earn it with the free-hand chain. Mathematically, it is possible to get up to a 46x chain, which would theoretically equate to a 45x trash block. This is almost certainly not practical though. In all my years of playing, I've only cleared the whole screen in-combo a hand-full of times, and that never occurred while attempting a 46x chain. If you're going to shoot for a truly impressive number, use this scenario, and see how far past 40 you can go. I think the best way to approach this scenario is to let the first two or three layers clear with only 1 combo, to build up some extra ground ammo. Thereafter, shoot for 2 combos on every drop. You may need the extra ground ammo when setting up for the transition. As you get to the last few layers of the final block, try not to keep the ground area flat. You want some slope, so that after the last layer of trash block is cleared, you can work your way down hill with some further free-hand combos, as shown in the above video.
@PucaCiuin
@PucaCiuin 11 жыл бұрын
Well, one could argue that having another person feed you garbage blocks is tool assisted in spirit. It certainly is easier if you're not trying to do it in a competitive environment, though you do get more lag if you have two people trying to clear garbage blocks, which is very helpful for building up chains.
@thaddcorbett2148
@thaddcorbett2148 10 жыл бұрын
Yup. I can't imagine how many times I've been 40 minutes into a competition thinking "man, i've probably got 8 screens of garbage on top of me right now" just keep the combo rolling until your opponent stalls for half a second.

I AGREE :D , using the ! blocks help make a thicker line, against your opponent and makes it harder, theres also chain drop, you know how you just wait til your opponent is done with a big chain then finish up your chain before he rises up his blocks :D your a smart player judging from what you wrote, Know how I can play online? I've always wanting, Im as competitive in Tetris attack as I am in Super smash bros.Brawl .

The GBA (Or was it DS?) one? Because the Super Famicom one is nearly identical other then the obvious fairies instead of Yoshi and friends. As well as two or so themes changed (Yoshi's / Lips which was left in the tutorial, and the Bowser/Cordiela which is still there when you talk to Bowser). Tetris Attack had a better AI though : /

This is what I call pulling a Blaine (because Blaine's AI in Pokémon Puzzle League likes to do this). You shouldn't have been so aggressive in continuing your chain after clearing the garbage block. Also, you could have made a vertical row from the green blocks near the end to clear that garbage stack and stay in the game.
