Ray-san, just follow what you believe is more appropriate for your needs. I am pretty sure with your ingenuity that camping shell would turn out great. Ganbatte kudasai.
Hi, I think I’m your sister (your double) in the US. I love to fish on the coast! I’ve restored fiberglass boats worked with FRP, epoxy and polyester, and I’m currently trying to convert a small Mazda Axela for camping. I’m learning how to weld as I’m going to do some welding modifications on a cot (square tubing) that I’m customizing to fit in the car. Thanks to your videos I’m going to give up stick welding and go to MIG or TIG …I’m a motorcyclist, I love to tinker with all things mechanical but I love to cook and I love music.
Konnichiwa Yumi-don San. Another excellent video, it is a bit of a dilemma what size frame to use. If you use the short one you can have the tailgate up which gives the truck more stability, and if you use the long one, the tailgate has to stay open, compromising a bit on the rigidity of the rear of the truck. I would go for the safer option, and have a more stable truck rear. You always have to think about your safety, especially if you are travelling over rough terrain to reach a campsite. Just my thoughts Yumi-don, the final decision will of course be yours. But please be safe. I really look forward to you building it. You, Rei, and all your families have a wonderful, Happy New Year. Be safe and well my tomodachi, and may all the Gods and Goddesses watch over you and keep you safe. Arigato gozaimasu. Peter. UK. 🙏🙏🙏.
I'm concerned that the long frame will put part of the shell on top of the liftgate. I think stability and insulation properties will be different there and may cause problems. Yumi will make the right choice. I'm looking forward to seeing the build! Happy 2025 to Deen, Yumi and Rei🥳
Happy New Year to the whole campsite too! I can't say whether the short or long deck solution is better. Here, to protrude from the loading floor, you should attach the approved reflective signs warning of protruding load behind you, and even if it is not prohibited with the signs, in the event of an accident you could have problems with the insurance. If you don't risk any hassles by choosing one solution rather than the other, it depends on the advantages you can have with the long deck. If the advantages are few because you have space to sleep even with the short deck (Yumigon-chan is prettier than tall 😗), I personally would choose the short deck for greater sturdiness and ease of loading and unloading and, if desired, concealment with a tarpaulin. Happy new year and cleanings 🙂🙂
Bravo pour les essais, que signifie FRP (en français ou anglais ?). Alors🤔 on ne mange pas aujourd'hui 😋? Je préfère la version longue, tu seras plus à l'aise 🙏
