If you didn't grow up with Puerto ricans in the Bronx in the late 60s early 70s then you literally have no solid evidence on wether they played a role in contributing in the development of hiphop. Not even the pioneers agree across the board on certain details on how things went back then. The Bronx is a big place with lots of different crews and gangs of blacks and Puerto Ricans that did pretty much everything together. So going off that logic it wouldn't make sense to say that all of the sudden those same gangs and crews that got into hip hop magically were separate.

Hip-Hop music & culture was 1st created by young black men.... BUT people need to remember that the young latino men were there from the very beginning helping with the building of this dope thing called hip-hop... 1st it was the Puerto Ricans in 1970's New York, then the Mexicans in 1980's California, etc, etc. I got into hip-hop in 1982 as a 10 year old Mexican kid in LA California when pretty much the only kids into hip-hop over here were black kids and Mexicans kids, it was kind of rare to see a white or asian kid into hip-hop back then, I knew a few that were casually into breakdancing when it became popular but they weren't really into hip-hop music & culture, as soon as the huge popularity of breaking started dying out in the mid 1980's they moved onto other things while the Black & Mexican kids continued to represent hip-hop! It wasn't until hip-hop went mainstream in the 1990's that all other races & nationalities got involved... but in the 1970's & 1980's it was the black & latino youth supporting & elevating the new underground culture we now call hip-hop! :)

@@IAMHIPHOP974 I didn't forget them, I said Latinos so that includes all Latinos BUT I did specifically mention Puerto Ricans and Mexicans because they definitely represented the majority of Latinos back in the 70's & 80's, with Puerto Ricans representing the majority of Latino hip-hop heads in the east coast back then and Mexicans representing the majority of Latino hip-hop heads in the west coast back then, all other races & nationalities involved in hip-hop back then were a small minority.... but of course in the 90's & 2000's all that changed when many other types of Latinos, whites, asians and everyone else got involved.
