Love the Haberman Hardware shot at 6:00 and how the two red cars on the far left work with the red stop sign and even the two bright yellow posts by the stop sign. The only bright colors in an otherwise moody, pastel scene. Nice!

I wanted to add a few things. First your videography is as compelling to me as the photography. Also, I watch a lot of KZbin photography "influencers" and while I enjoy the content and entertainment, it often seems the who they hang out with, the events they get invited too, the sponsors and the equipment and the comedy value is foremost with them. To me, you feel like the real deal and while still entertaining and funny at times the passion and dedication for what you do is overwhelmingly evident. The locations, the background info on where you are and why, the behind the scenes scoop of what is happening adds so much to your content and shows there is so much more than just making photographs to you. Thank you for doing what you do.

I love this one. I was especially into the image of the bridge at about 1035. I grew up around those farms, and forests of the Pioneer Valley, and the way you dig into seeing and making images of the area is really inspiring.

But I have a question! Did you think about scanning these to include the sprocket holes? I know that could be gimmicky but there are a couple of spots where aspects of the composition got cut off like the camper van wheel… but they are probably there on the neg. Actually, I kind of like seeing sprocket holes because it’s a visual reminder of the medium on which image was made like where you see a painters image, but also strokes of their paintbrush. Sorry. I’ll stop waxing in your comments and maybe go do this myself.
@RobbieMaynardCreates3 ай бұрын
haha never feel like editing yourself here, my friend. Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you. I feel the same way you mentioned about sprockets being gimmicky. Never really felt like it was necessary. As for the camper shot, you are spot on. It was poorly composed, it was my first time out shooting pano's on the 690 so it was a learning process. Even looking back, I can see how much I pulled the front of the camera up which was clearly too much but I tried to line up the abandoned apartments in the background.. It is what it is.

For panoramic photography, I have used 35mm roll film in the following medium format cameras: Fuji GW670 rangefinder with fixed 90mm f/3.5 lens Fuji GSW690 rangefinder with fixed 65mm f/5.6 lens Mamiya RB67 SLR with 50mm f/4.5 and 90mm f/3.5 lenses. Of the three, I prefer the RB67 because I can load 35mm film in a 220 film back and easily change to 120 film in a 120 film back at any time. With the Fuji rangefinders, when I load the camera with 35mm film, I cannot easily change to 120 film.

It would probably be interesting to put a horizontal light streak filter on the lens. I guess you would then get sort of a "anamorphic" look. Of course there will be no oval bokeh but especially at dawn with all the lights it would give off a very cool look. As i love anamorphic lenses and cinematography but also love shooting film it would be a unique way to combine these two things.

Glad to see you shooting like this! I've shot my own fuji 6x9 about 50/50 like this vs with 120. I'd inherited a whole spool of B&W film and it gave me quite a few rolls to experiment with. Finding shots where the extra width adds to the photo was an enjoyable exercise. I'm not one to enjoy "diptychs" that much but I could see a pair of shots like the ones at 14:16 working well as one.

Hopefully this isn't a silly question... But couldn't you get the same aspect ratio and composition by cropping the top/bottom of the 120 film?

@RobbieMaynardCreates7 ай бұрын
It was far easier than doing all that. You have to tape the roller to the left of the take up spool. That's what triggers the frame counter. Dont forget to flip that counter to 220 so you can get all 13-14 frames!
