Nick's recollection on so many specifics throughout his time in the league blows my mind. NFL GM must be a very mentally taxing job given all the things you have to have a pulse on, but dude is recalling specifics about what was going on in NE from 17 years ago as if they happened last year. Tremendous football mind.

One of my favorite characteristics of Nick Casserio and DeMeco Ryans is their humility. Knowing that there is some luck involved and recognizing that they can’t ride the success of last year because of the one score wins. The franchise is the healthiest it’s ever been.

Glad to see Nick get the love and recognition he deserves. He doesn’t give you the coach speak and is always an interesting interview. He should have won front office exec of the year last season. Nick has played, coached, and worked on Wall Street a very diverse background that translates into a great GM. I love how the relationship works between him and Demeco, neither will take all the credit. To see a GM who rewards players, has a vested intrest and legitimate cares that his players succeed makes Houston a destination to go along with the talented roster and great coaching staff. We need to hire Kay to cover the Texans exclusively! She gets in her questions and doesn’t avoid the tough ones and legit tries to get answers, even knowing they may not be forthcoming. She asks intelligent questions and you can see her picking Nicks brain. I’d love to just spend an hour on a barstool with a few beers and talk football with Nick.

It does make me wonder about how much of a teams success can be attributed to the GM. Like, can you win Super Bowls with just an average GM? Does a poor GM kill teams fast, or can they coast by if they luckily had a good coach etc.. etc....? I remember the fans being close to lynch Caserio because it seemed at first all his high draft picks were busts over and over. But then out of the blue his picks started to pay off with the likes of Derrick Stingley and Nico Collins who exploded last year. Even Green, an first round pick offensive lineman who was wrote off entirely for being a horrendous bust after his rookie year and the especially after missing all of last year from an injury. He showed up at OTA's looking like a completely different player. He trimmed his fat considerably and replaced it with muscle. He now looks to be on the same trajectory as Collins and Stingley. If Peirce is able to return to the type of player he was during his rookie season, I would start to think he's clairvoyant. Weirdly Peirce seems to have made a somewhat of a body transformation himself. He has trimmed down to add more quickness to his running style to better fit the type of offense that OC Bobby Slowik runs. Peirce is one of the fans most beloved players because he was one of the only bright lights the Texans had his rookie year on top of being one of the most exciting running backs in the league to watch. So to say the fans would be happy if he turns it around this year would be a monumental understatement.

I find it weird that they refuse to just come out and say, at the very least, that it's highly unlikely that JJ will return. Why? Every Texans radio show says that there's zero chance of JJ ever coming back, and it will never happen. But Caserio, Demeco, and JJ refuse to put even a little bit of a damper on the chance of him coming back. I know the excuse people give for the Texans not coming out and shutting down all the speculation is because the Texans enjoy all the media and fan interest in the team that this speculation causes. But surely that can't outweigh the negatives it would produce from the fans and media that comes from the disappointment and annoyance being stringed along this whole time would cause. If there was some ulterior motive behind this, the only thing I could think of for all 3 of them agreeing to not shut this speculation down is because it affects JJ's television deal and brings him more money somehow. And that sounds ridiculous to me but it's the only conspiracy theory I can come up with for them not nipping this off at the bud.
@chuckleezodiac246 ай бұрын
what negatives? what disappointment? what annoyance? are most fans really bothered by the JJ Watt speculation?
