I have had Hamilton's Pool all to myself on many occasions, both day and night. The hike from the pool to the river is very cool, too.

Garner State park is awesome, I didn't think the water was going to be crystal clean, but it actually is, you rarely see any trash out there

We take littering very serious here in Texas. That's what I love the most about living here. I'm not the trash police or anything, but we all seem to do our part, if I see trash I pick it up, I don't harass or anything, I just pick it up and move on.

Barton Springs was always cold when I went there. Love Blue Hole in Wimberley--great rope swings. Balm.orhea is great too and Bastrop State Park has the best swimming "pool"

Have to agree--Barton Springs is hard to beat..Great place for family reunions....Hays clan has met there a few times....My DAD swam Barton Creek before it was damed up...GOD BLESS TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barton Springs has always been too cold for me, takes my breath away rather go tubing in the Comal & Guadalupe Rivers, the Frio is too cold for me too. Love Zilker Park in Austin (where Barton Springs located)

LOts of great ones. I used to scuba dive in Blue Hole. Balmaorhea ought to be on the short list just because of location. It serves the western half of the state and is such a wonderful stop on the way to all things West Texas.

Barton Springs is soooo cold...too cold to swim in. I like to froze there when I was a kid. Hubby grew up swimming at Garner. & even tho we lived in Austin, neither of us have been to Hamilton Pool.

I just bought a house in the San Antonio, Helotis area to get the heck out of California (Don't worry we want to keep Texas a red state). I love Barton springs I use to basically live there. On the side where the big rocks are. But I'm in tampa Florida now and our swimming holes are full of alligators and snakes.

I don't really recommend going to Hamilton Pool personally...I mean it looks really beautiful but it's so far away from everything and the water is freezing (we went on a hot day). Also you must bring swimming shoes otherwise the rocks on the floor HURT.

Barton Spring, went there first time when in the 90's and friend coached me to run and jump in. Didnt know it was a cold spring. Got out faster than I got in. Great place.

I've been to two (#1and #3) of these on my trips to see family in Austin. I've also been to The Blue Hole and Schlitterbaun. Austinors (or whatever they call themselves) are very lucky to have these. I would sooner spend all day at Barton Springs than Schlitterbaun anyday.

Barton Springs is WAY too cold! 68 might sound refreshing but it takes your breathe away and you can't stay in more than five minutes. Nice place but freezing cold! I think it's more like 62.

Growing up it was Friday at Lake Travis jumping off the cliffs. Saturday we would go to Llano flats to hang out. Then Sunday to Lake Buchanan for boating an fishing. Hamilton Pool was the place you went with just your date.

Try swimming in Houston in the Bayou next to all the chemical plants... Lol.. Houston has the best night life in all of Texas.. Midtown, Downtown, Washington, Rice Village.. All very close to each other 5 min drive time.

Houstonian here!...we lack the nicer watering holes, we have the Gulf of Mexico's dirt water, I'm amazed to see the amount of tourists that come down here to vacation at the beach, I always think to myself, WHY?!?!? go to Florida, you can't see your feet in the water here!

yes but its dangerous there i saw ther were three holes that are dangerous some diver came in there and did not survive but some did
