Would have been great to see DPS continue with the Impalas but they just went to the Tahoe shortly after for the 2007 model year. I own a 2011 impala and always thought it would be sick to see them in DPS paint with the Chevy 9C1 rims and a pushbar. At least am satisfied with the 2015-2020 Tahoe ppv’s, sick SUV’s!

My agency has some of the Impalas with the 9C1 package and it’s really not that great.. They’re still fairly low miles as our courthouse security guys drive them, but they are still rather slow and sloppy, even compared to the Tahoes we have.

At 2:04 I remember the troopers using the bad-ass 93 Camaro Z/28's. You sure didn't mess with one when you seen him on the highway. Just seems like yesterday when I remember these 4th gen Camaro's.

I greatly want to make remarks about these DPS video spots on KZbin, but I've got to reply to a couple of these comments first. I don't know what part of the state this young man lives in who is a diabetic, but I would suggest you talk a friend who is a DPS Officer. They might be able to tell you what the physical and health requirements are, about joining the Texas DPS. If you do not know one I would suggest contacting the Texas DPS Academy, and talk to a training officer or a supervisor. I'm sure they could advise you if you could join the DPS, if you are diabetic. To the others who would like to be DPS officers, if you've never been in trouble, have had good grades, and some college. I would say contact a friend who is with DPS, a DPS headquarters. Such as Houston, Beaumont, or a headquarters near you. I would try contacting the DPS Academy and I'm sure they would provide you with an application, possibly even an interview. I was very gifted the three years I lived in Southeast Texas, as I had numerous friends where DPS officers. 1 is now a retired Texas Ranger. When I lived in Texas back in 79, DPS Troopers drove black and white Dodge Polaris. Squad cars we're not real high-tech back then. They had the red and blue twin Beacon lights and a siren speaker in the middle, that very impressive seal on the door it says Texas Department of Public Safety. I think that's one of the most impressive door seals I have ever seen. Unless the trooper is a K-9 Officer, I cannot see any reason for Texas DPS going two SUV vehicles. They have room, but they don't have speeds to do any Pursuit driving. I have always been hung up on the Dodge Charger, for any Pursuit driving. I must admit that I live in Western Illinois, a long way from that crappy town of Chicago. Illinois is not the greatest place in the world to live, but I was raised in the state, started volunteer Public Safety in the state, and retired volunteer Public Safety in the state of Illinois. I did volunteer Public safety in Jasper County Texas doing search and rescue, and fire Department radio dispatching. I can understand wanting to be a Highway Patrol Trooper. That telecommunicator who sets behind a DPS radio console, gets just as much respect as that Trooper on the road. it's the communications operator who can be the difference between life and death, for that Trooper on the road. By far my favorite is the charger. But seems like they are phasing them it for SUV’s. Which isn’t really a great idea because the suv isn’t fast like the Charger and can’t keep up near as good
