Let me ask a question: Let's say a Republican was president and California decided to just get rid of the border checkpoint. They blocked the federal government from getting close and told anyone who wanted to come in to just enter the country. Would you have a problem with the state enacting whatever border policy they saw fit because it was more in line with how they thought the border should be treated? There is a reason the border is controlled by the federal government and why there needs to be a single policy for the entire border.
