I will never plant that purple oxalis in the ground again. Over 20 yrs. ago I planted it and it took over and spread like wildfire. I am still digging and spraying to get rid of these. Very nice garden.

Your garden is so beautiful! Not sure if anyone’s mentioned it yet (so many comments!) but that “Heuchera” is a Saxifraga, commonly called strawberry begonia.

Someone also said it looks like variegated dutchman's pipe! I think it looks like both...lol! I'm going to have to research both and see which one it resemble most by growth habits...etc!

@@shadedfromreality Do you mind me asking how much sun your snowball viburnum is receiving? I just bought one this week and looking for a place to put it. When I purchased, I had a spot in mind but I'm a little concerned it may not get enough sun. It should get about 3 hours in the morning and dappled throughout the remaining of the day. I'm in Fort Worth so zone 8B. Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous garden. I'm inspired!

@@ChrisSmithFW My viburnum is new as we got it in the fall last year. It gets about 3-4 of morning sun and part shade through the afternoon. It should be blooming right now, but it isn't. I have a feeling when they trimmed it into tree form, they cut off the blooms....unless it's going to surprise me a little later this season, otherwise, my fingers are crossed for next year! You could always try your viburnum in a pot in the spot you are thinking of and then move it if it doesn't work. Enjoy and thank you so much for the nice comments!

Hi, just found your channel and your Spring garden is looking beautiful. We removed our pool last year after forty years and with it went most of my perennials, I did manage to save some in grow bags but we haven't finished what will be all news beds this year. We're getting up there in age but still love to garden. We started a vegetable garden four years ago and I sort of got carried away with the size...17 raised beds and twenty five grow bags mainly for peppers. I am missing my flowers though, so I started a lot from seed and as soon as my new beds are finished I will get moving on that. Happy to find a TX gardener in my zone! I couldn't quite hear what you called the native plant with the white flowers, I would love to plant that one. Happy gardening!

Oh wow! That sounds like a great veggie garden you have going on! I bet you do miss your flowers though! That’s is a fragrant white mist flower. It’s a Texas native so very hardy to our climate!

The rose tree next to your pool if you use a bigger pot or a 30 gallon grow bags and fill the first 1/3 or 40 percent of it with gravel it will add weight and possibly even wire from inside bottom to top and strapping it down for extra support I think it may help stabilize the plant much better.

Good morning Dawn! Love your garden…just beautiful!!🌿🌸🪴With the concrete mesh panels that you use as supports for your clematis and roses, what do you use to attach them to your fence? Love this economical idea and have a Sweet Summer Love clematis that is starting to grow quite quickly (zone 7B) so need to plant it and support it. I can’t wait to see it continue to grow and hopefully bloom…it’s my first clematis! 😊

Thank you for your lovely words! We used to have it in a heavy pot, but transplanted it to a lighter pot to make transporting it easier. We fixed one problem to create a different problem...lol!

Hi Ana! Thank you! That area of the bed that you are talking about is in full sun! The penstemon does best with full sun, but the spirea can take part sun and will still bloom beautifully! Are you thinking of adding them to your garden?

Hi Dawn, I'm so happy to find you! I'm 8B also. I was curious, how did you prepare your flower beds? The clay is just so difficult to work with, and then add the extreme weather and watering restrictions. Where did you get your supports for your clematis and roses? You have such a beautiful and serene garden. Your white spirea, is it Reeves spirea or maybe bridal wreath? Are your planters propped on bricks or anything? Everything is so gorgeous.

Hello @rnguyen2516! Thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, agreed..the clay is nearly impossible! We amend our flower beds with compost, landscapers mulch and always add peagravel to help with drainage. It is important to remove some of the clay, but not all. Always incorporate it into the new soil you are adding. The trellis supports are concrete mesh panels from home depot or lowes and yes, the planters are propped up on stone. The spirea is Bridal Wreath. I hope I answered all of your questions! Happy Gardening:)

I love your garden, I garden in zone 8B Flint, Texas, I love your clematis I have several as well, but this is my first year with them. my question is do you trim them every years or not?. I also have them in the fence I just want to make sure thank you kindly.

Hi there! Thank you so much for the nice words! Yes, I actually do trim them every year, but mostly to clean them up. They start to look very messy, so I trim them according to which type they are 1, 2, oe 3. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much Maureen! You’re going to fall in love!😍 My Collete gets full sun - sun up to sun down. I fertilize with a slow release (Rose Tone or worm castings) in the spring. I use Bloom Booster every couple of weeks. It is 3 years old and I have not trimmed it yet. Keep neem oil handy as it does attract aphids…like most roses!

I loved the tour of your garden and that you have a diverse selection of plants and vines! I live in Central TX and have many of the same issues that you do but probably not quite as cold as in the northern part of the state. On your video at about 10:25, you mentioned that the plant you got from your father (I believe) was a hellebore and corrected to heuchera.....it looks much like a Dutchman's Pipe that I have seen that is great as a host plant for certain caterpillars. I may be wrong but I seem to remember that it has pronounced white veining on the leaves, as did your plant. Loved it all and will be back to check on your lovely garden! Thanks for sharing with all of us.

I read that it is host to the swallowtail catterpillars, which I usually have many loving around in my garden :) I have had this for over 7 years now and have not noticed them chomping on my plant, but I will start to pay more attention now! It’s a miniature Crape Myrtle, smaller than a dwarf, so 2’-3’ max size. If you continue to cut it back in the summer, it will continue to bloom for you!
