Absolutely adored everything about this house tour and Joe Minton.. Stunning home and that main drawing room is spectacular- what an amazing story too. Love his unpretentiousness and how he kept the 1950's kitchen. Incredibly talented and just such a lovely person who made me laugh and smile throughout " I didn't need a playroom" 💓

I've fallen in love with Mr. Minton! His taste is sublime and he knows it. Others might balk at saying such a thing but he's proven it time and time again. I also really love his sense of humor. "Oh, it's a mess ... let's not go in there!" cracked me up the same as it did him. I can see (although don't approve of) why people might not hire him at his age but they are not understanding what comes with older age ... wisdom and experience. My guess is that when he takes a moment to recollect something it causes concern but to me it's quite obvious he's all there, every minute. And seeing HIS home I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to welcome him onboard mine! Wishing him many more years of good health and interiors to embellish! ♥

He is certainly a one of a kind. The house interior is stunning, filled with a lifetime of treasures and their stories. I’m grateful the videographers showed us something of what it is to be a human being who has and continues to experience life as fully as possible. Certainly arriving at his age… doing all he seemingly says he does comes with assistance by several different people. Just cleaning his beautiful house interiors, the gardens, maintenance etc., comes with many hands helping. His home business etc., also includes the assistance of a team of people. I imagine he is accompanied by a “mayordomo” or a housekeeper. This gentleman is able to enjoy life fully because he is privileged. I hope he realizes this. Thank you for sharing Homeworthy.

Captain Hatcher snatched the whole collection from its made in China but of not of the present days but of the 1700 per-se , the sale lady said at the thrift store. What a great gentleman, designer of yesterday. Thanks again for airing Mr. Milton.

I live in Dallas and have been in wonder for years why no one has torn down that tiny house in that little town of University Park where SMU is located. Tear downs are common and cottages are replaced by huge houses! This charming unusual home always stays the same! Now I know why! I am assuming Mr Minton has been there a long a time! Mrs Betty Gertz he mentioned was a most important player in DFW Asian Antiques! The East and Orient was her spectacular shop and her mansion on nearby to UP, Beverly Dr mansion in Highland Park was renowned for being as amazing as his home, only much larger. I am going to make it my business to use a nearby connection also in design to meet Mr Minton and see this magical place while it still exists!

What an incredible home, I absolutely adore it. To think the heart of it is a three hundred year old room. The upstairs room with the ticking for wallpaper is gorgeous, the garden, wow. The round dining room, a very clever and exquisite house. One solution to the small entranceway, might be to build out, create a bigger room. I can understand not wanting to change the architecture though. It was a delight to listen to Mr Minton, thank you.

Amazing, didnt know you could move ha whole room. Would be happy, if I had the funds, to let him design my home. A bit Ralph Lauren inspired. As I get older, and have inhertited some old furniture, paintings and decor, I love to see it displayed. Would not have bleached the walls though.. Like the heritage brown.
