@@Tortilla.Reform but why defend yourself when the judge presiding over your case is doing it for you? The judge has several cases to hear each day. If your words and testimony will do nothing but lengthen the proceedings while the person determining your case has already ascertained that you have no case to answer, why speak? Don't you wanna go home quickly? The prosecutors have the burden of proving your guilt, as long as they are failing to do so before a judge, keep quiet.

@claireingles-sj6xz 24 күн бұрын
This judge has a huge following on the internet. This makes it soumd like he's soft on crime. He DEFINATELY isn't. He also ruthlessly tears into the criminals when needed. Delivering lectures on his reasoning behind his judgement. He shows both the ruthless criminals and the wrongly accused. Alternating between serving compassion and public shaming in addition to the legal penalties. He acts and speaks not like a judge, but like a fellow person who just happens to be a judge. He sees each person brought before him as a person and not just another slot on the docket. He takes the time to dig deeper into the case and takes into account both the good and bad aspects of human nature in his judgements. I find it a bit ironic that he practices in the very conservative state of Texas. I wish we had Supreme Court judges that are more like him.

He told the gentleman upfront that "he had the right to remain silent." Also, "ANYTHING you say can and will be used against you in a court of law". The best thing the judge could've done for him was to get him to be silent, and maintain the integrity of this man's freedom, and cicil rights. Then for him to tell him at the end that times were hard enough, people were out to get him and to just be nice was the best advice he could give. That was really awesome of him to shut down those cops and that BS attorney.

If I understood correctly, the judge was asking the prosecutor what law was broken by the Defendant stepping out of his vehicle and the prosecutor could not name a statute.... so the judge correctly threw the case out. Too many judge's though would not have done the right thing and insisted on knowing what law was broken, they would have simply taken the prosecutor's word for it that the Defendant was guilty just because the cop said so, and that is the problem we have with too many of our judges these days especially at the JP level! I have been a Defendant in which I witnessed the judge and prosecutor standing outside of the courtroom before my case just being best buds talking about their children in school and how their wives were and all.... and that judge hours later found me guilty and even took the prosecutor's word for whether my evidence should be admitted (without the judge even examining my evidence, the prosecutor told the judge my documents were in-admissible and the judge without looking at them just agreed and convicted me)! I was acquitted on appeal of course, but it should not have taken an appeal (which cost me more money to hire a lawyer for the appeal, of course)!
