This episode was a little different due to scheduling, so I figured I'd use this as an opportunity to answer some questions, go into some of the analytics and all that fun stuff. We'll go back to the usual episodes on the next one in July! Welcome to the 15th episode of the Texas Plinking 1 MOA At 1,000 Yards Challenge. A monthly video series where I let 5 fans come out with their equipment and attempt to shoot a 10" gong at 1,000 yards in under 10 shots. If they hit it, they can use their remaining shots on the 5" gong. The 10" gong is worth 10 points and goes down 1 point after every shot. The 5" gong is worth 20 points and goes down 2 points after every shot. Once both are hit, the challenge is complete and each unfired round is an additional point. New episodes go live on the 1st Monday of every month!

Really cool that you're doing this! I was able to shoot past 150 a few weeks ago and with the help of 4dof I was able to get first round and consistent impacts at 3 &400yds on 8 in plates with my 11.5 556 and after that I can completely understand that you want a decent base level of distance shooting but Im hooked at longer range shooting now!

I wonder, is there a way to have a remote mic that can reach 1,000yrds? Hava a mic at the targets to get the audible 1) would be cool, 2) good feedback, and 3) you would have known you cold bored that shot.

Thanks for having me out at the challenge Brandon. One of the silver coin challenge coins and fist to hit with a .50 bmg. Not to go on too much of a rant, to all the people wondering how to sign up for this challenge. Pay attention to all the things mentioned in this video involved in making this production happen and amount of people who say they they would like to do it but back out last minute or never respond back. To be honest I came with some buddies out there as a backup shooter and figured might as well bring a big iron rifle. Just happened to be needed on a last minute cancellation and ended up with a silver challenge coin. Rant over and thanks again Texas Plinking for putting on this challenge.

PSA Sabre line is the real deal, confirmed again and again with other the examples I've had in hand. Shoot with the Federal 175gr GM SMK and all of the ones I've seen are doing .75 moa. Great to see PSA putting out a quality product for a reasonable price.
@John_4396 ай бұрын
Got a psa m110 lower and it wouldn't feed. The mag catch was out of spec and wouldn't seat the bullets high enough to feed reliability. Fantastic trigger though once I got it fixed. They also home with nice parts easily making the bump up in price over the standard ar10 lowers totally worth it.

@nateferguson6366 I wonder if the barrel was turned out of the extension. Hard to see how they'd drill the gas port at that angle. I had a coworker who took a prybar to their muzzle device in an attempt to free it. Turns out they destroyed the pin in the extension and managed to separate the barrel and its extension.

This series confirms that experience with wind calls is paramount. Also not having a super windy day is very helpful. In zero wind with some experience, making a hit in 2 shots is fairly easy with a decent setup but wind can make it nearly impossible if you don’t have a bunch of trigger time under the belt

Everyone has their right to their own opinion but personally this is some of the best content on youtube! Such a cool idea and just a cool ass dude to host it! My only worry ever about this challenge is the fact that you're inviting strangers out with you to shoot but you're a smart dude and know what you're doing! Keep up the killer work man! Much love from Montana!

Love the series. I don’t watch much KZbin at all, but always watch these. A friend and I have been talking about submitting our names. We have experience in Highpower and F-class, and own the appropriate rifles, but we want to use something different. We’ve discussed everything from typical hunting rifles to Garands. Lack of optics capable of spotting our own shots is the big problem with most of these. Once we get it figured out, you should be hearing from us.

I really enjoyed the analytics conversation, puts it into perspective for those who think this is easy. What would be really cool is if you plopped a 8” at 500-600 yards and incorporate that somehow, which I bet would gather even better data as to people thinking they can take animals at 500, bet you it’d be close to the 16-26% as well. Thanks for another great episode man.
@aeis30076 ай бұрын
Also way easier to find shooters. A ton of ranges go out to 300 so I would think most people shooting that would be comfortable/capable stretching out to 500.

I really enjoy these videos, particularly seeing some of the gorgeous setups people bring. My only suggestion would be whether you could place the target camera closer so it reduces the mirage effects and wind effects and allows us to see the hits and misses clearer. All the best from England!

So many great things about this challenge, I have seen winners with expensive rigs. I have seen a winner with a Mosin-Nagant. And I am glad you finally gave some of the parameters of submitting a request. For example, I have not shot past 100 yards. So, I would not even think of trying until I have successfully shot at 300 yards. Fossil Pointe, a few hours west of me, goes to 800 yards. North East Texas Tactical, in Kaufman County near Terrell, goes to a mile. Once I could get some time and success on anything past 100 yards, I would feel comfortable answering the challenge. And yeah, what a great idea hosting events. Private challenges, bachelor parties where guns matter more than girls (and that should appeal to brides to be,) that would be great. And maybe offer some rustic camping, if they want. Have them pay for the cost of a porta-john.
