“A panel of Fox News hosts expressed outrage on Thursday after one Texas school district temporarily removed the Bible for review during a push by conservatives to ban certain school books.
Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany reported the news on the Outnumbered program. She said Anne Frank's diary is also facing review. In total, about 40 books are being reviewed by the Texas district.
Hosts of the Fox News program argued that the review should be limited to books with gay and transgender themes.
"The Bible, the most read book in human history," McEnany remarked, "Over the last 50 years, nearly 4 billion copies have been sold. Compare that to Harry Potter, which is number three at 400 million.”
"Not only that, foundation of the world's largest religion," she continued. "A classic historical text. If you don't believe it in the religious context, at least it can be appreciated in that context. But that's the one we're removing!"

Also, maybe learn to think critically about laws before passing them. Any good conversation with people who can think and entertain alternative views and perspectives could have seen this coming. But this requires detaching ourselves from the emotions driving these laws and approaching them with logical thinking. You know, as a kid I was not given an actual Bible to read, but rather a book of Bible stories. There was Noah and the flood, but no mention of Noah getting drunk and lying naked in his tent; Lot and his family being rescued from Sodom, but no mention of Lot offering his daughters to the mob, or the story that Jayar read...et cetera. I was in middle school when I was first given a full Bible of my own, but it stayed at home or went to church with me. It was not in our school's library at all, because _school is not church!_ The Bible is not a cute kids' book, y'all. No amount of VeggieTales sanitizing can make it so. Therefore, it should be subject to the same standards of judgment for age-appropriateness as any other book.

Everyday without the Bible is a day that many people won’t have to deal with religious abuse! I was TORTURED BY MY DAD WITH THE BIBLE! I had to sit for hrs until the Holy Spirit went into my heart. I went to Christian schools for Pre-K through 12 back in the 90s and early 00s, and the Bible should ABSOLUTELY be banned from public schools if these pearl clutchers are going to go after OTHER books for violence, sex, and/or sexual violence. There's some HEINOUS stuff in the Bible, and if it's not heinous it's certainly explicit. I remember reading Song of Songs when I was in second grade and 8yo me going red in the face from the shit it was saying, talking about breasts being like young fawns or whatever the hell it said. Song of Songs by itself is INCREDIBLY inappropriate given the current criteria, and that's without even considering the issue of a religious text being in a public school. We don't allow the Bible in State Schools in my country. We don't allow any religious texts from any religion because they are state schools. That's pretty normal isn't it? If parents want their children to have religious instruction they can take them to church, mosque etc outside of school hours or pay for them to go to a private school.

"Anyone who reads the passages that have now been discovered will be unable to suppress a smile," said Frank van Vree, director of the Netherlands Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, in reference to the jokes contained in the newly deciphered diary pages. "The 'dirty' jokes are classics among growing children. They make it clear that Anne, with all her gifts, was above all also an ordinary girl," van Vree added. The ones who pushed the banning of books really only meant to ban books with depictions of transexuals, homosexuals, etc. In the end, it bit their ass when some people asked for the Bible to be banned because of the same reasons they banned the other books: sexual content. Either way, I'd say it's important because those who wanted to ban books and suppress the authors of said books are religious and believe in the Bible, so this makes the banning of the Bible both ironic and deserved.
