So THATS what the 610’s whistle ACTUALLY sounds like. I LOVE IT!!! I wish Steve Lerro could add the T&P #610 to the K&L roster.

Well, it's great to hear the 610 again. For those of us who worked on and followed her during the 1970's it's pure music to the ears. What a shame she slipped by before the digital video era. It's nice seeing the last operating Pershing 2-8-0 painted in a respectable and original paint scheme rather than circus Red! Thanks TSR!

Quite a surprise to see and hear T&P 610's whistle again after nearly 4 decades since it was last blown And I think it's obvious T&P 610 possibly won't be returning to service in the future or run again

Well actually I asked the folks that own the 610 if she would and they said “she can easily handle the curves but it doesn’t make financial sense to restore the engine.”

True. It’s too big and heavy the TSR’s infrastructure. You’d need to find an owner who’s infrastructure can handle 610’s size and weight. But you also need a shipload of cash given 610’s size and wear and tear it can leave.

Reminds me of the Missouri Kansas Texas railroad chime whistle Southern Pacific 786 wore one time, both it and 610's whistle squeal

The whistle had that problem on the Southern from 77 to 79. I think it sounded that way in 76 when it was AFT 610.

T&P 610 whistle sounds every nice for something would be on a 2-10-4 Texas type steam engine sounds good. Love it. I've seen pic of engine. Never really knew what it sound like there's a video of the engine when i came home at the end i heard the whistle but not the best sound from the video now. I hear it sounds great

I hate to say this but that whistle sounds really bad. It was not what I expected it to sound like. All in all I love the video.

I believe the whistle is also being a tad overblown as well.

@@PereMarquette1223 Personally, I think the whistle is being underblown. The T&P I-1a class had a boiler pressure of 255 psi, but #28 runs at a boiler pressure of 190 psi (65 psi lower). That might explain the difference in sound.
