If you’ve never been on the Royal gorge train in Colorado is definitely worth the trip. It takes you within a few feet of the canyon walls. I’m only about two hours away from Palestine. I’ll have to check this one out

I haven’t had a chance to explore much of Colorado. I’ve driven through once like 20 years ago. I need to return!

Did you purchase food before your trip? Or did you buy it on board?
@RobbZipp3 жыл бұрын
We purchased it before the trip. If you don’t, you might be able to buy it on the Rusk stop. They only sell snacks on the train.
@fridamanzo17863 жыл бұрын
Which train seating do you recommend to purchase for the ride? I will be taking 2 kids, 4 years old and 2 year old, for the polar express train ride. I am so excited my 4 year old son loves trains and I can't wait to see his excitement when he gets on this train. Thank you in advance for taking time to respond to me.
@RobbZipp3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t spend big dollars on 1st Class or a presidential seat unless it’s going to be cold and rainy. The open air seats are the cheapest and most fun.
@fridamanzo17863 жыл бұрын
@@RobbZipp I booked in advance for the polar express and since it was a special occasion I got presidential for the extra space and since the trip will be at 8pm and I can't predict the weather I booked inside. Hope they still love the ride. Thanks for the opinion 👍

How long was the Train ride ? Back and forth and would this be a good idea to take my 2 kids?
@RobbZipp3 жыл бұрын
It was about an hour and a half from Palestine to Rusk. The stop at Rusk was about an hour and then it heads back to Palestine as a faster clip. We left at 11 AM and returned at around 3 PM. I don’t know much about kids, but I did see several there. I would recommend the open air car because you can feel the breeze and hear the train blow it’s horn.

I’m taking my gf there in 3 weeks and haven’t booked tickets yet. Question-you walked thru all the different cars..can anyone do that? Or is it they let you because you were filming? I wanted to book the glass top car like y’all did,but it would be nice to walk down to the regular car with open windows just to see what that is like
@RobbZipp3 жыл бұрын
You’re able to walk through most of the cars like I did. The open cars are fun as long as it’s not raining.

Drove 2 hours from Dallas for this trip. Zero Co-Vid protocol. The entrance gates were chaotic and overcrowded with no guidance from any employee. Zero Security to be seen anywhere. I reserved 2 seats in a Presidential booth where the chair was broken. The intercom was broken for the attendant to use. The Windows on our car were extremely dirty. If you do not pre order your food on line you will wait 30-40 min in line to eat at the turnaround. I stayed outside on the platform most of our trip due to our car smelling foul from all of the old obese people asleep on this trip passing gas. There is nothing to see of beauty on this trip but piles of wood and railroad ties. We did pass several residences flying Confederate flags. On and on.....blah. Can't believe I fell for this. I did talk to a guy by me carrying a rebel flag bandana. ..He informed me that He was a Son of The Confederacy. Total waste of time.
@RobbZipp3 жыл бұрын
Oh wow. I can’t totally see all of that.
@makeamericagreatagain61963 жыл бұрын
Smh sounds like you have a problem with white people more than the train ride. People flying flags in their property shouldn’t be an issue. Sound like a disgruntled person who can’t enjoy the simple things.
@v.b.4622 Жыл бұрын
You're whining about confederate flags yet you took a trip in a state that was literally part of the Confederacy. There's nothing shocking about it, it's our states history.
@joesitter201013 жыл бұрын
Is the Texas State Railroad officially "All White"? I just watched a documentary about the TSR on PBS and couldn't help but notice that in absolutely every scene there were zero Hispanic or Black Americans either working on or even riding on the railroad. In my opinion, That's Creepy. It begs the questions: Are "Coloreds, Mexicans or Indians" even allowed on the trains? If so, Where are they? I guess that's what's "so good about private ownership". They don't have to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
@RobbZipp3 жыл бұрын
I can’t speak for others. It’s in East Texas.
@RobbZipp3 жыл бұрын
But to really answer your question, it’s open to anyone who buys a ticket. You may want to contact their marketing manager about why there isn’t more diversity in customers. I did see all sorts of people there on the times I’ve ridden it.
