I love how they’re so loud that the mics get distorted and corrupt

I was there and they were so strong, but I think that’s just NFHS…

@@thefakejeremymarks1717they always are even at techs open field you can feel the sound they’re pushing there’s easily 500 people on that field all screaming the same stuff

If you ever get the chance to be there on game day, catch the band's fan show before the game. Full stadium volume 10 yards in front of you. Earthquake.

@@codenamegear9102 Even with my band (which is really small at state and wasn’t strong compared to others) had bad glitching issues with the audio. It is a terrible marching band program. They were by far the strongest there by a mile though, amazing players.

Go to a home game - you'll quickly realize just how strong the GB is! They marched in NYC last year and we heard them long before they turned the corner towards us despite the canyon of skyscrapers

Great band! I notice they don’t have giant props, singing, or a light show! Their performance is great, based on music, marching and choreography…what marching bands should be. High school bands are more of a dramatic stage play than musical performance now. Judges should be ashamed of what high school band has become to win competitions.

from a money perspective and making things about performance execution vs. a pay to win thing, that's certainly true and perhaps there needs to be rules on what a band can spend (would be difficult to police). However marching band is no longer simply about being a cheer squad for the football team. It's drawn from competitive drum and bugle corps (where the ensemble's performance is solely why they're there). Also, you can't blame the judges because probably 50% of them come from the drum and bugle corps activity or are corps alums. Also, drum and bugle corps is partially to credit for getting/keeping kids interested in music period.

@ So, if you don’t have giant props, dancers, electric guitars, music played through a soundboard/speaker system and a light show you’re a cheer squad for the football team? If I wanted to hear singers I’d go to a choir performance, dance…a dance competition, acting…a broadway show, singing…a concert! The judges ARE to blame! If they wouldn’t consistently reward bands with these crazy elements, band directors wouldn’t put them in the show! Directors are forced to add these elements because judging dictates it! University bands don’t participate in this nonsense, which should tell you everything you need to know! Keep the stage play out of marching band!!

Always love the Texas Tech band. I just wish these kids would cut out the goofy stuff in between songs. I understand having fun, but dampens of professional feel from the band.
