Being from FL & visiting Texas a few times I gotta say these 2 states are more similar than different. San Antonio: Jacksonville…2 military towns that are 4th tier in their states. (With surprisingly big populations) Slow pace of life with some decent economies and low COL. San Antonio has Six Flags, while Jax has the Beaches with St Augustine nearby. Orlando:Austin…2 young vibrant energetic cities with a lot of growth going on. 2 major Universities in their cities (Texas & UCF) and MLS/but Orlando has a NBA team. Both also have a growing tech culture & awesome night life, music festivals and food scene. Orlando has theme parks while Austin has hikes with views. Dallas:Tampa…2 cities with a Midwest Transplant problem lol. Both cities are solid #2 in population in their states and offer a lot. Plus they have nearby satellite cities that add to their growth. Plano, Frisco, Ft Worth are basically the TX versions of St Pete, Sarasota, & Bradenton. Tampa has great beaches like Clearwater while Dallas has…better public transit? Both are big sport cities and a good time. Miami: Houston…THE party financial and diversity capitals of their state. Nuff Said. Houston is cheaper, but Miami is more fun & worth it. Oh…and Florida north of Orlando is just as Southern as Texas if not maybe a little bit more due to Alabama and Georgia right next to them lol.

@@VIPRealty I like Texas a lot! But I gotta give it to Florida. At the end of the day, the access to water, the palm trees and vibrancy of the cities edge it out for me. Plus it’s the food for me. I can eat Mexican food & BBQ allllll day. But FL, especially North FL has some pretty good BBQ. And the Caribbean, Latino Cuisine, & Fresh Atlantic/Gulf Seafood just put the Sunshine State on another level over the Lone Star State. Plus who can say no to Disney World & South Beach?

I think after living at a city/state for a while we all crave a change. Can't beat the beaches in Miami but the day to day living and reality can be different.

So much of what you’re talking about about is related to the cities in each state. For example, the temperatures in Tampa, Fort Myers, Orlando and even Fort Lauderdale are not only warmer, but much better employment opportunities climate definitely better in Florida so much of Texas gets much colder in the winter. My money is on Florida.

The cost of living in FL is out of control but I love it here. I own my home but other expenses are outrageous. I'm considering Texas because, in my opinion, it's the less expensive version of Florida. But after watching a few of these kinds of videos, I'm starting to wonder if moving out there is even worth it. Yes, I'll save money on expenses, but I'd have to leave Fl vibes/ beaches/ tropics/ care free lifesyle behind. I don't think it's a fair exchange. There's nowhere in the country like Fl. I just hate how expensive things are now.

VIP this is a tough one, not going to lie! Florida has that vacation/beach aspect of it that Texas doesn’t have. That’s the biggest difference to me. I love metro Dallas because it more of a traditional city and a great place to raise a family. We also love Florida because of everything you mentioned. With all of that, we chose both lol! Texas is our primary home while we own property in North Florida. Those are rental properties, but we are now looking at acquiring a nice condo in Miami as a vacation home.

We moved to Florida from Texas and let me tell you if you don't make 100k or more you going to be struggling financially but bad . And this is in all South Florida if you move to Tampa 90k and if you move to central Florida around 80k to 75k . School are more expensive food is more expensive gasoline oi is more expensive and even daycare costs are higher. And didn't even think you can rent or buy a house without flooring insurance and let me tell you most of them they only cover 10%. The state is absolutely gorgeous but and definitely more safe than Texas, but extremely expensive also.

Live in south fl since 2015, fl has changed a lot, cost of living is insane, extremely expensive, food, rent, insurance etc, I'm paying $ 2750 for 1 bed apartm!! luxury condo, to buy a house is almost impossible, yes we have beautiful beaches and weather, but that's it, very low salaries, here you see 10 people living in a house so they can afford the high cost of living, this is the true about fl, has become a shit hole without jobs, and lot of scams, fraud, corruption, nobody speaks English, so you better speak Espanol!!! this is the reality of FL, as a travel nurse i have worked in different states and Texas is muy favorite, they pay very well , we are ready to relocate

Same here.. from South FL as well and it's gotten ridiculous here. Miami is not for working people with families. The people who are thriving here are wealthy people from up north, retirees, or celebrities. I know some people paying $3000 for 2 bedrooms here, and that's not even South Beach or Las Olas.. talking like west Broward County. And you're so right about the lack of jobs. The cost of living here is rising steady and the few jobs available here don't wanna pay you enough to even make a decent living. All your check goes to rent and bills here. I'm hoping to move my family and I or of here. Love FL but it's become unsustainable here. Trying to maybe go to TX

Thanks Richard for the great video, I would say I am a Texas fan , even though I love Florida, I would not live there because of the cost of living compared to Texas. I know Texas has gotten colder, but it can not be as bad as Minnesota where I live, am I correct? Also, I was wondering , me being a public health practitioner, would I be able to have a good salary like Minnesota? In the future I would love to relocate to Texas because I am sick of the cold weather of Minnesota and it’s state taxes, and the people are not much friendly and welcoming.

I wanted to take a trip for my cousin who needed a vacation and wanted to take her somewhere with many beautiful scenic views and not that flat, do you think Toronto Canada would be better for scenery or is it just about the same? Please let me know

Right now there are no one bedrooms in South Florida (even the hood) for 1200 dollars. Maybe a studio apartment and that’s a huge maybe!!!! I grew up in South Florida and I would say that I know Miami and Broward County like the back of my hand and these apartment rental numbers are wayyyy off. Also, there are 2 different sides of Miami. Luxury and across the tracks 😂 even over there it’s expensive!!! South Florida takes number 1 when it comes to nightlife! I have been to many places and there is no place like South Florida when it comes to 5 stars restaurants, dinner dance parties, clubs, upscale lounges and so so so much more!!! Basically, you have to have it like that to live comfortable in South Florida. The pay does NOT match the cost of living for the average person. In Florida, you can find diversity in food !!! I have not experienced this in Texas.

I agree with everything you said. With that said, Texas is the best bang for your buck and Miami is getting to the point where it is rivaling California in prices. Although we are looking to buy a vacation spot there, most average people will be priced out! Most people would just pick Texas and visit Florida! Specifically Miami!
