Being a waterfowler with decades of experience one thing about safety I never hear mentioned is use the proper firearm for the situation. Myself, my son & nephew once allowed another nephew to join us who had little experience shotgunning for ducks. We were hunting coastal marshes with lots of mud with clumps of smooth cordgrass everywhere so the footing was not ideal. The new member joining us arrived with an 12 GA. autoloader, once set up we had a flock come in and the new guy tried to make a shot which was close to vertical & when he fired he lost balance and fell over. His muzzle was all over the place & since he was using an autoloader there was a live round in the chamber & the gun was off safety. The rest of us all use pump shotguns because if you fall there will be a spent round in the chamber with no chance of an accidental discharge. Autoloaders may be fine in situations where you are not in slick mud with clumps of cordgrass causing unsure footing. Since that day we have never taken anyone with us who uses an autoloading shotgun.

Will San Benito Texas resaca be stocked with fish

San Benito Resaca is not currently considered a public waterbody so there are no plans for TPWD to restock it with fish, but some folks are looking into opening up more areas for public fishing nearby.
