Joe Tal is one of the greatest guitar players today. No gimmick, pure talent, not here to show off and do things to please trends.

Sooo much love for ya guys but... WHAT ABOUT GENOTYPE?

Old sounds of Textures in new hands. So nice song!
@sampoitevent28727 жыл бұрын
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you for posting. Unfortunately, as I feared, tons of the amazing and subtle details of the playing in the song are lost in the album's mix. It's not a bad mix, but as Joe's playthrough shows, a lot of stuff is either difficult to hear or or totally lost altogether.

I respectively disagree. Try listening with good headphones or speakers and a proper source, the album mix for Phenotype is fantastic.

@@t3hgir absolutely agreed here. mix is brilliant

Here I was thinking John Browne was the God of downpicking. I never knew there was another!
@Dannnny44443 жыл бұрын
Try once to play Master of Puppets with downpicking and say not James Hetfield is one of the bests. Even though Joe Tal is a master, too.
@Trendkiller3332 жыл бұрын
You can add Chris OJ Ojeda from Byzantine to that list as well. ☠️💀☠️

God damn. From like the 2:52 mark onwards, the riffing is just insane. Incredible.

Yeah, dude has pretty high level thrash chops. Trying to get to 230bpm downpicking and galloping speed has driven me insane the last few months haha

Does this mean we get to hear about Genotype soon? Because I'm about to lose my fothermucking mind!
@CRAY0NEAT3R7 жыл бұрын
Eratosthenes I completely forgot about Genotype. I can't wait man. A 45 minute long conceptual track from Textures can't be anything but amazing.
@toxendon7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and the fact that we have *no* announcement from them makes me a bit nervous.. CROSSES RULES

Apparently your nervousness was not unwarranted :(

That was amazing. I've been jamming Phenotype for the past two months and it still crushes every time. Great tone as well...What kind of pickups?

If Joe is reading the comments: What string gauges do you use?
@joetal7 жыл бұрын
Just your standard 10-56. Cheers brother!

wow that's pretty light for this tuning. thanks for your reply, you rock!
@lukahmog7 жыл бұрын
Awesome tone Joe! Question for you: What was the signal chain for this recording? What amp/cab combination did you use?
@joetal7 жыл бұрын
Luka Markovic Guitar --> Kemper profiling amp --> Cubase . The guitars from the original mix are also blended in for extra thickness , the signal chain there was Guitar --> ts9 --> modified 5150 --> Bogner cab (+ another Marshall cab in a different room).
