The thing I find the most amazing about this band is the fact that they manage to play progressive/djent metal but manage to cover it up in many different layers of genres and atmosphere witch I find makes them stand out on top of all the other djent/prog bands.Whoever they choose to be they're guitarist, I am certain they do great. Textures, I fucking love your music! Keep it coming and I'll keep listening :D

Thank you textures!! A lot of bands just would have chosen without informing the fans about the process. But you give us a great insight and let us participate. I´d like to meet you people in person. And I´m REALLY looking forward for a new album (2013 pretty please?).

For the skills, all of them are pretty close to each other, though we've not heard each of them on solos. The difference may be in composing / inspiration. I guess the good test to podcast would have been to ask these guitarists "have you ever composed some riffs that would fit textures and can you show them to us". Anyway, it's good to see the band has already found awesome candidates and will even struggle to chose one. I wish you the best, guys, and good "luck" to each of the candidates.

Personally, all candidates were pretty much neck-to-neck on the skill side but it all boils down to who would gel with the band more and push them to a higher level..Good luck sorting that out guys, Cheers!

I'm really curious as to what people are basing their opinions on. They never sounded like they had made any mistakes. They all sounded as if they had the same sound. From what we have here, basically all you can really do is choose from their enthusiasm, energy and background experience. They all came prepared. Textures commented on everyone positively and almost the same way. I'm really curious about the answer to this one. -Chris

What is almost more importent that just the skills, is that the new guy/girl has the same positiv charisma and is also such a nice guy as Jochem was :) Joe said he want's to bring the blast beat back but don't change the core of Textures. That sounds good to me :) Because I have to go with the opinion of Leander here: Textures set's themself way upon all the other modern prog/djent Bands! Not that I don't like those bands, no, but Textures really is something beautifully unique! cheers :-)

Lean seems like someone fun to see on stage and I'd really like to see what textures would sound like with his musical influences, but Joe seems the most professional one... Tough choice

Simply put, Joe is absolute Textures material. His vibe is cool, not egotistical and honest (hell yea blast beats). Merel was great, especially since I didn't know she also plays with Delain (which is a damn good band). Good attitude, but when you're going to do an audition, bring your A-game girl. :) I think you're not there - YET. Maarten is, just like Joe, a cool guy. Honestly had a better vibe on camera but off camera, Joe nailed it. Basically, you guys got your work cut out for you!

2 guys seem to stand apart from the rest - Leander and Nick van O. 1. Leander all the way!! His approach (versatility) is perfect for Textures. 2. Nick van O. - I like his aspirations in music. ... 3. Tijmon/Joe (seems a bit too old-fashioned with the blast-beats) The mall-core kids rub me the wrong way to be honest. I would never want Textures to sound like Periphery and the likes (generic djenty djents).
