Teylers Museum is het eerste en oudste museum van Nederland. Het dankt zijn bestaan aan de rijke zijdekoopman en bankier Pieter Teyler van der Hulst (1702-1778). Na zijn dood werd met zijn geld de Ovale Zaal gebouwd en sinds de opening in 1784 is het museum onafgebroken voor het publiek opengesteld, in een omgeving die nauweJijks is veranderd.
Instrumenten, fossielen, penningen, Hollandse meesters, en wereldberoemde prenten van Rembrandt en Michelangelo zijn te zien in dit prachtige museum. Bovendien is het gebouw architectonisch een bijzondere ervaring met als hoogtepunt de Ovale Zaal.

Teylers Museum is the first and oldest museum in the Netherlands. It thanks its foundation to the wealthy silk merchant and banker Pieter Teyler van der Hulst (1702-1778). After his death, his money was used to build the Oval Hall and, since its inception in 1784, the museum has been open to the general public without interruption in surroundings that have scarcely changed.
Instruments, fossils, medals, Dutch masters and worldfamous prints by Rembrandt and Michelangelo can be seen in this beautiful museum. In addition, the architecture of the building offers a very special experience with the Oval Hall as its high point.
