break yourself to be reborn (Drakengard-inspired Original Song)

Hi! This is an original song I wrote inspired in part by the music of Drakengard, called "break yourself to be reborn"! This song is very special to me, as my original compositions always are, and I really put a lot of myself into it to evoke the emotions I was hoping to. I am extremely proud of it, and while I know it's a departure from the usual content, I hope you'll still like it! Part of why I'm uploading it is that, unfortunately, sampling laws mean that I'm not allowed to upload it to streaming services, so this and Soundcloud are the only ways I can listen to it. I realize I didn't mention--Drakengard is a videogame that was originally released on PS2! It is very weird, extremely disturbing, and heartwrenching, but it was also super formative for me, and I've been inspired by it for years. It was directed by Yoko Taro, who also did NieR: Gestalt/Replicant and NieR: Automata!

Oh man, please do! Let me think...I love a ton of different musical artists, a lot of which are in video game music! Off the top of my head, here's just a bunch-- I love Keiichi Okabe and MONACA, who do the music for a lot of Yoko Taro's work. I LOVE Susumu Hirasawa, who's done music for things like Berserk and the works of Satoshi Kon. I love a band called The Irrepressibles, especially their album Mirror Mirror, and Band of Horses, and the Gorillaz. Goatbed is another favorite band of mine, and the song Dreamon Dreamer is one I've been obsessed with lately. I am a long, long, looong time fan of Vocaloid music by all kinds of producers! There's so much more I could list, but I'll stop there for now x3
