Maybe it's finally time I shared why this song in particular is so special to me. It has to do with my personal experience as a player. Spoilers for NieR Automata, Route C: After everything that happened in Routes A and B, I really didn't know what to expect next from Automata. I had been putting off starting the next route until my best friend told me I *had* to get it started, that it was so worth it--and so, of course, I listened. That night, I sat down in front of my computer, booted up the game, and hit start... There was such an incredible impact to that start, after the initial part with 2B, once it moved to 9S. Standing atop a building, staring off into the distance of the ruins... Everything would have seemed normal, were it not for the song playing. The melancholy, haunting drone that had replaced the usual City Ruins theme caught me off guard. Standing there alone, making my way into the city, I still felt strange. Even as I began to perform what felt like a routine main story quest at that point, there was an atmosphere around me granted by the song, its emptiness, its lack of vocals, and the disturbing serenity it granted. Down went one machine, then another, then another, hacking my way to victory all alone... Then the fourth machine came, and all at once, everything changed. The vocals kicked in for me--not just anywhere, but right at the song's chorus. It hit me like a tidal wave, and struck my heart right at its core. Staring across the city from my high vantage point as the singing kicked in, everything felt different. I knew something was going to change, that nothing would ever be the way it had been before. And the song was just so...unimaginably, indescribably beautiful. I couldn't do anything but stand there and listen, absorb it, *feel* it. It feels like something so unique, something different for every person who plays the game. For me, I felt like my world had shifted. The impact games can have is immeasurable, and I love when I personally am reminded of that. For that, this song has stuck in my heart, ever since that first moment.

This song is extremely atmospheric. Listening to it for the first time hits you a lot like falling in love with a person you've just met. Very unique. Anyways thanks for the remix I listen to it time to time.

The entire concept of the tower is just so mysterious, strange and beautiful but there's also this sense of dread and meaninglessness. The emotions are way too hard for me to describe but there's something about the story context and this song that make it very powerful
@cornlobby8404 Жыл бұрын
You said it perfectly, just why this song in particular stands out in the NieR: Automata OST. It's a beautiful, melancholic, and haunting song, yes, but what makes it special to I think a lot of people, is exactly where it plays. It's the theme of the Tower, but before the Tower is even shown it plays. It plays before the biggest event in the entire game. The event that happens right before the Tower rises. It's as if the song is mourning something. The chorus comes in and like you said, it was as if something was going to happen and it would be irreversible. This isn't triumphant music for clearing the way for YoRHa's pilots to descend. This was something else. And then it plays again in the Tower. When you enter as 9S, after seeing everything that is Branch C/D. That chorus, it hits again. Like a wall of bricks, that chorus hits and you're left to reflect on everything that you just went through, all the loss, tragedy, and anguish our protagonists have had to suffer through. The first part is haunting, it's mysterious, it feels uncertain. The second part is melancholic, empty, somewhat pained. This song acts not only as a warning song, but also a mourning theme. It's a song used very rarely, but it is perfectly used in both instances. Your cover is great, thank you for making such a great version of this beautiful theme!

@@cornlobby8404 YES, I am so glad that someone understands how I feel!!! Your words resonate with me just as much. I really do agree that it's just...it's so perfect! And I'm so glad that you like my cover and feel it does the song justice ;w;

This is so beautiful! You have a great ear for figuring out all the notes in a song. I’ve attempted a capella a few times and I’ve noticed that I have trouble paying attention to some of the alto parts in songs. I haven’t posted my acapella attempts anywhere yet. I mainly show it to close friends, because I’m not that confident in my current vocal abilities.
