They mean rebuilding. The problem was it wasant enough soldiers ready to die to maintain what was already established in the black communities.

Thats because democrats instituted the black codes stating that black people could not own guns. At the same time they created the kkk as their terrorist wing.

I’m from Detroit and I would never move to the South. Our Ancestors left there for many reasons. The South has not changed, in fact it’s worse. Our ancestors left walking to the North with no shoes or proper clothes.

There’s a reason why all black wealth is in the south. There’s a reason why black health is more progressive in the south where you have black owned medical clinics and medical operations. There is a reason why you have higher black graduation rates in the south where you have black ran School districts Unlike in the north where you have the worst medical outcomes for black Americans, where you have zero wealth for black Americans, where you have no black suburbs, hardly, any black business so what are you old heads babbling about you sound like a failed immigrant who left their homeland and still failing, black population in most northern states are 5-10%, but in the south people make up near majority that’s why you have so much political power of Black people in the south the only people with this mentality of not going back down south or old black baby boomers/gen-X i’m confident that you are, majority of sundown towns are in the north and Midwest Black Americans owned majority of the land in the south

The reality of Jim Crow hit on both sides. Black folk left the South chiefly for economic reasons. Racism was a push factor, but the real pull was to better one's economic condition. It's interesting that these big migrations to industrial industries happened right during the war effort. Majority white men were the soliders, black men took the industrial jobs to support the effort. Racism and fury from the aftermath of the Civil War and the economic reality where slavery by another name (aka sharecropping) wedded black folk to another form of unfree labor. At the bottom of all of this economics. Life for a sharecropper meant you was always wedded to land and a bad crop or season was HARSH. Add on the veener of white supremacy and life was hard. It's a testament to black entrepreneurs in the South who in this terrain were able to start businesses at the turn of the century who were exceptions to the rule, but the vast majority lived in tough situations and had to leave for better life.

Detroit, Cleveland, and DC are already chocolate cities. People could migrate there as easily as the deep south. Cleveland and Detroit don't have affordability issues. DC has Howard and PG county. You could easily recruit students from the pa, wv, oh, DC, me, and VA hbcus to create the same cluster further north and people wouldn't necessarily have to uproot as if PG county isn't the wealthiest black neighborhood already. Some of those towns already have black mayors as well.

The issue is, we don't own our homes in those places. Many are dense with renters. That is a massive issue on many levels. Signed 1 of the 20% of Newark Residents that actually own their homes.

Your logic works but those places can swing blue with or without black people. His idea is to swing red states blue (or whatever color we choose) and because of the population difference it won't take many of us to do it. Idk...

@@ThirtyThreeHipHop Yea the ideal of taking state power sounds good on paper but I don't know if it's realistic. Folks live in cities where the economic opportunity is plentiful. Southern states may have better options from a cost of living but what economic sectors that are located in these regions and locals with income to be able to buy homes, establish economic base, and then move the needle on state and local levels. Plus southern economies base around occupational sectors that disproportionally not a lot of black folk from a critical mass standpoint are involved in.
