as a cvar nerd here to kill the joke i'll just say with tf2 especially it's not really about fps, it's more of frame timing consistency, mouse sensor delay, microfreezes, etc. unfortunately valve shat on their game so hard you have to n64 it to make it play nice even on some mid range systems. not everyone notices things like that though if their mouse is some 5 dollar wireless one (feels like it has a ball and chain) or their monitor has loads of input delay, or they have 15 'background' processes running and 3 antiviruses. or if they have less than maybe 1000 hours in skill based shooters i will say though some of the major configs out there make it REALLY hard for avg joes to set it up, despite how ass blastingly simple it really is. low level programmers always find ways to overcomplicate things for the end user. just use the old 'chris config' and get it over with, it's barely any worse

I tried one of these on my old computer. It worked, I got to like 50-60 frames for most things but huge battles in the game it still dropped. My advice is to save up money.
