Hey! From one 3D modeling person to a new one, try to avoid extrusions or booleans/intrusions that force you to have a lot of extra poly's that you either have to reduce by making a bunch of tris or just let exist as useless loops. say you want a cube with a cylinder sticking out instead of extruding or boolean-ing the cylinder, just place a cylinder object on it (that's ever so slightly pushed inside it), this save poly's and time and saves you many headaches with rendering and baking issues.

if you want higher quality meshes, you can group texture sets. Example a car: you can group the body into one UV and the wheels into another by combining them and selecting a material in Maya.

Woah this looks pretty good, my only critic is that the mask looks very different than in the game. Compare to tf2 pyro mask it looks much thinner than your version and has less bump on the forehead. Still, it looks very good

@@Oretal yeah definitely! And thanks i hope so! Yeah there are so many approaches to zbrush it can be hard to know which way to come at a sculpt from. I think uses as many simple shapes as possible is what helped me the most recently

You could definitely learn some non-destructive modelling techniques (failing that just some hard surface modelling) for elements such as the mask's goggles and such. My god though, that automatic texture unwrap was horrific. Still though, I really liked the little details you added like the procedural bump map texturing. c:

Definitely could do with a better unwrapping. Next time you do this you might want to look into "cage meshes" which can be used to better bake seamless textures and details from the high poly mesh to the low poly mesh. AFAIK substance painter and substance designer both support cage meshes, and there is also third party software that can do it for you. Also, try to reduce polycount on faces that do not deform, like the ends of the grenades and mask lenses. In addition to lowering the polycount it makes the normals in those regions shading behave more "normally"

Hey, Ive got 6 years of experience in 3D art, rigging and animation. And this is not bad! Took me a LOT longer to get where you are at. But if you want my feedback: In my experience sculpting isnt really used as much in games apart from creases in baggy clothing and inner ears (created after the model is done) paired with height maps or hyper realistic games like Last of Us. Most things can easily be done with Soft Selection Tool/Proportional Editing in object edit mode. This will give more control and reduce wonkyness (like top of the boots) and give crisp straight lines! I do like to sculpt to start out sometime, but usually when I do models for animations that can have poly count in the 6+ digits, cause good luck editing those vertices! xD
