Video games allow distant strangers to interact in a way that usually isn't practical or possible in real life. Especially since we're in the middle of a pandemic; video games with any sort of social component, even if said component is emergent, give us something fairly close to human interaction... and allow people spread all over the world to pay tribute to a great man together. Virtual interactions are not fake. The emotional component is still there, and sometimes, that's all that matters.

Rick May's passing is the saddest thing to happen this year. But seeing everyone band together made me realize that he will live on as the Soldier and Peppy, his most well-known roles. Every time Soldier does the Schadenfreude after getting a few kills with a single crocket, or Peppy tells me to do the Barrel Roll, I'll smile, knowing one man was responsible for those iconic voices. We love you Rick May, keep on rocket jumping up there.

I’m actually friends with the guy who got the last clip, I had no idea just how many friends I had overseas as one of my friends is French and another is Spanish. Sirdankzalot my friend and all of the community just banded together and in fact, when the statues were up, anyone near them usually wasn’t killed if they were taunting. It was a beautiful time and I’m very glad to be part of this community even if others say shitty things about us or our game, I’m just super happy.
