Thank you Emanuel, i am currently -70€ less because of the fly you got in my head that is called MD-11. I have to say i was flying the A310 for a while and was planning to get the freighter A300-600. However seeing the MD my never ending curiosity of quirky stuff was awaken and i went for an MD freighter instead. It is very, very interesting thing to fly and even with the price a bit on the steep side I manage to make enjoyable full flights with it. I really love that thing.

I have many many hour of maintenance on this aircraft when they where flying in the really nice blue KLM colors. Great to see it appear in the Sim.

Back in the day, I kept FSX only because of the PMDG MD-11.

my understanding, and the way it works for me, is that the APU will automatically shut off once #2 is stabilized. According to MD-11 pilots this is part of the automation system in the MD-11. P.S. Also, my understanding is that the track issue is a real plane issue, not a bug in from the developers. PS#2 The manual sucks.

No, you have to press the APU AIR switch after ENG 2 hast stabilized, only then, the APU will shutdown.

The MD-11 was at a respectable age when it made it's last flight but it absolutely looked much better than shown in this outside model, definitely not as dirty as this aircraft.

Are you using custom sensitivity settings? The plane feels excessively pitchy for me. When I took off, it over-rotated as if it were a toy. Additionally, I find it overly stable on the roll. Rotate handles the plane's dynamics much better.

No, I don't. Just use small inputs on the control column, that works wonders.

Another great video. I had just hired on with DL when the first two leased MD-11s entered service, tail numbers 891 & 892. A good and interesting airplane. Questions - did you use time acceleration on the flight or just creative editing? If time acceleration, how did you activate/deactivate it, and did you find it to be stable? Love the videos, keep up the great work

Hi, I used time acceleration at 4x. I control it through keyboard commands, I don't recall what exactly the name of the function is, but you can assign it in the MSFS settings. The plane handles it kinda okay, you can see it going up/down during parts of the cruise which is a result of the acceleration. But if you compare it with Fenix or iniBuilds it supports time acceleration pretty well.

Emi, do you "read and do checklists" when you're flying different types? With the exception of the 737 and Airbus which you've flown and fly in real life, if you're anything like me it's hard to memorize all the flows for different types if you're not flying them all the time.

Hi, I only do that when I initially learn to fly a new bird. What I normally do to learn a plane is to draw myself the procedures onto the panels mentally. I can't really learn just by FCOM text, I need those visual drawings on the panels. Airbus FCOMs are really nice for these, for other planes I normally just go in and repeat the flow a dozen times "on the ground" until things start coming together. I'm certainly the kind of visual learning type.

I am leaning to pick up the TFDI MD-11 between tomorrow and Saturday. It's been a while since I've purchased from TFDI, does the aircraft come with an installer similar to how PMDG planes do it to download liveries?

No, that's one of the common criticisms, there is no livery installer. Also, there is only one available engine type atm.

Neither, PMDG did not show interest in the MD11 since the FSX days and unfortunately the TFDI will not reach PMDG level either.

What do you think, Emanuel, is this a study level aircraft when u compare it to PMDG? I saw your discussion on the past with the manufacturer and the level of media (influencer) exposure is much less. Tell me please if this is worthwhile, also because the Pricing is a little difficult, not to mention high. Thnx in advance ❤

Hi, no it is certainly not study level. The price needs to be this high because the MD-11 is simply not an airplane many people like. A smaller customerbase means the cost of the development needs to be spread between fewer customers which causes the high price.

I bought it as I'm an MD nerd. It's not bad and fun to fly. I only hope that TFDi does not abandon this birdy, better outside model on MSFS level. Bit more live in cockpit like sunshades, moving seats....

I met them in person at the expo and we had some pretty good chats (also about this topic). I think I can say for sure now that at least their management was not aware what was going on on their social media. They promised me to act on it and take moderation more seriously. They mean in well, just their execution... let's say was not always that well done. But they want to improve.
