I am sickened by your (TFL Studios) incessant reference to the "OJ Bronco" and venerating of a convicted felon and sullying the good Ford name and brand. OJ Simpson is a convicted felon, robber, kidnapper and accused wife abuser and accused wife murderer. Please discontinue and edit out any and all of the references to the "OJ Bronco" when the correct terminology should be "Full Size" or "late 70's, 80's or 90's" Version Bronco. But Please STOP the association of the criminal OJ Simpson (who is currently serving a 33 year sentence for the above crimes) and the Ford image!!!!!!! This only sours the taste of the New Broncos (and the old Broncos) by associating the criminal OJ Simpson with this wonderful, beautiful product.

Toyota trucks have always been reliable. Is something breaks and you get charged for a lot of money? It's because you don't know how to fix it and it can just be an alternator and I'll charge you $2,000 because you don't know how to fix it with simple tools. Have a '07 4Runner with 200,000 miles. Everything is original except battery and alternator and tires and brakes and oil/filters. Lol cost of maintenance by self is 💯 to 200 yearly for good moderate maintenance. Good luck with cheaper build vehicle lol 🤣.

I disagree that the 4R is a direct competitor with either the Jeep or the Bronco. IMO, the latter two are more purpose-built vehicles. The 4R is for people who want to off-road and enjoy the outdoors, but still need a daily driver to cart the family around and maintain a large degree of practicality that, necessarily, more purpose-built off-roaders lack in many cases. I would never take the family on an extended vacation road trip in a Wranger. I know people do ... but the 4R is, for me, a much more practical family hauler, and maintains amazing offroad capabilities while doing so.

@timglascock5558

I disagree that the 4R is not a purpose-built offroader - they may be used as a family hauler but they certainly have offroad credentials. It may not be a convertable, you cannot take the doors off as easy, and certainly need to do more pursuation for larger tires but they are amazing offroad. Not all Wranglers or Broncos will be used for hardcore rock crawling or mudding. I hear what you are saying that the 4runner might be more practical for family hauling and the Wrangler and Bronco have some benefits offroad but I think it is worth comparing them because folks will likely use these vehicles in similar ways, will cross-shop them, and would want to know how they differ. Practicality is one aspect to consider but I bet they will largely be used the same.

I bought my 4Runner because it had a 3rd row seat, super reliable, costs less, tows more, and is for the most part just as capable off-roading. I used the money I saved and I have front and rear ARB lockers, twin air compressor, switch pro, bead lock wheels, 34” tires, .488 gears, winch, lift, full underbody skid plates, and more overall ground clearance than the Bronco (not talking about the sport). Now my whole family can go off-roading vs leaving 2 of them at home. When I reach 300k+ miles and still hitting the trails I will be happy. In the end I feel blessed because I know some people would just be happy to have a car. I won’t talk down on Ford but in the end we will see how many of those vehicles are on the road in 10-20 years.

Great video, can't wait for the actual drive over the pass!! I've never thought the 4Runner and bronco or Runner and wrangler ever really compete. The bronco and wangler are more "true" off-road if we need rock crawling. The Runner will do almost everything the majority of people will need. For our needs, overlanding, the 4Runner would be the clear winner. It appears to have about13 cuft more cargo volume than Bronco. 77 vs 90. And the roof rack options for a tent are way better for the 4Runner.

Same. I bought a 4Runner for all those reasons, even though I wanted a Wrangler at the time. For technical off-roading and ease of modification, the Rubicon Wrangler will dominate the 4Runner, but 4Runner is just a nicer daily driver and road trip vehicle. I look at the Jeep as an off-road vehicle that will work okay on pavement, and the 4Runner basically the opposite. The Bronco slots somewhere in the middle, it would be a nice compromise between the two if it was offered with a fixed-roof.

My wife drives a 2022 Bronco Badlands Sasquatch 4dr. She loves it. She said it was the first cool vehicle she ever had. Race Red. We were not able to get the hard top and the soft top is so noisy it hurts my ears. I had a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4. Engine crapped out due to lifter issues. I am sick of new fuel management technology that fails. Sick of too much Tech. So. I just bought a 2024 4runner TRD Off Road Premium in Underground. Added TRD intake, TRD exhaust, Alpine head unit with upgraded cameras front and rear, speakers, amp, sub, etc. Added a leveling kit, came with the TRD Pro wheels and tires. I have already had it on the trails. It is NOT just a mall crawler. Very capable. From all the videos I have watched from TFL and others, the 4runner TRD Pro or ORP will pretty much do everything a Bronco Badlands will do... stock. However, the Badlands does it in style.. the 4runner takes a while. Yes the Bronco is more capable overall, but the 4runner has proven reliability, more room, and I pray I can get 300,000+ miles out of it.

Drag race a base model bronco with the same engine and no sasquatch package vs any v6 bronco with the sasquatch package and the bronco with the bigger tires is going to get smoked.

When Tommy mention that it's the same transmission that's used in Explorer, I bet that has something to do with it as well. The transmission in the F-150 is probably a lot stronger, I bet you that Bronco version has a ton of torque management to really limit the power that you're getting in order to eliminate risk to the transmission. I bet when somebody comes out with tunes for these, they are going to be MUCH quicker.
