Still waiting on further feedback from Falken after they mentioned that they would investigate TFL’s snow performance testing done earlier this year on the Wildpeak AT4W, especially since it is so much worse than the AT3W.

@@jimbo2040trust me when i say you made a great choice. There is nothing scientific about the snow test or this dry test. During snow testing the throttle "control" varied as well as time of day which bring temperature change and changes to the surface into play as well as the falkens were the last tire tested after the course had been beaten pretty good from the earlier tests. Im also not sure they were the correct load range for the jeep. Again, just content at the end of the day because other channels have had really good performance in snow from the at4w's. Ive had the at3ws and i loved them and now i have a mickey thompson baja boss at that i love also.

I have two sets of LT tires for my F150. My 4 year old AT3W's might just be the best none studded tires I've ever had in snow and ice. Amazing tires if you only want one set of do-it-all year round performance tires. I had a few sets of BFG's and they're pretty good when brand new but, don't even come close after the initial 10,000 km.

The fact Jeep, Ram come from the factory with Nexen tires is completely crazy. Has to be the worst OE tires ever
@Cloud30000
@Cloud30000 3 күн бұрын
The only way it would be acceptable is if the tires are practically free and the savings are reflected in the jeep price, then you can use them to drive directly to your preferred tire shop to have the tires you want installed. It’s more likely done to get the best fuel mileage rating during the EPA testing in order to advertise the numbers and get a fleet cafe benefit with no regard to real world performance, as that seems to be the common practice with mfg’s these days. I wish all mfg’s let you pick out the tires you want and they installed it at the dealership before you drive off the lot.
@ChrisC-y1j

Loved the videos guys. Keep up the good work. I learned my lesson about tire tread and the difference it makes. Back in the mid 90's I bought my first Jeep, a 1983 CJ-7. Came with a set of BFG 33's already installed. I pulled my roommate's 2wd truck up a 20-30 degree dirt slope hill no problem with that Jeep. Three years later I bought a new 1996 Wrangler with stock tires. Couldn't even make it half way up the same hill and was towing nothing. Difference was the tire and tread. What a difference tread makes.

Maybe you should try the Falkens in the load range C tire on the snow test again? An E tire for the 2 door wrangler is overkill. Understand the others are also E range but perhaps the engineering differences for the C vs E in the Falkens would make a difference on the small, lightweight wrangler? I've got C rated AT4s on my 2 door and haven't had much issue in the couple of snowfalls we've had out here on the western slope.

Seems to me the first test on this grade would have been the best because the ground would provide more friction (grass, roots, etc) and subsequent runs would be in sandy ruts. Jeep will never do this, but I can see a motorcycle\SxS mfg doing this. A basic SxS, upgraded just enough to legally run on the highway, and with a price kept under $25k. It will be slow, loud, and uncomfortable on the highway, but that’s ok if the off road performance is excellent and it stays small enough to just tow it to the trail if it’s a longer trip. It would make a particularly good vehicle to tow behind an RV and use for local transportation when the RV is parked.

You didn't. They're great on snow and ice for an all terrain. I've had 3 sets of at3w and 1 set of at4w they all perform good above 50% treadlife on bad roads. I drive the same 600 mile roundtrip drive every week in some of the worst driving conditions imaginable and they are still the best besides blizzaks that I've had. I've been doing this same drive since 2011. Look up I-80 in Wyoming ing the winter, nicknamed the Sno-chi-man trail. I have no idea how tfl had such bad performance, i have a 2016 Gmc 2500 diesel that ran the at3w and a 2024 Tundra that has the at4w. Friday I had 200+ miles of black ice, snow polished ice from the Neverending wind, slush and dry powdery snow. They performed just as good as I could expect. I have had bfg ko2s and they were not even in the same ballpark as the Falkens for snow and ice driving, I actually used them for about 2 months, around 5,000 miles and took them off and replaced them with Falkens.

@michaelrubala1215 anytime I even think of going with a different tire brand and start reading into it. I just know if I go with the at3 XLT, I will 100% be happy. If I don't then I'll just compare to it 😂

Nexen tires are absolutely the worst, even compared with other HT tires, and they puncture so easily from just a gravel road(found out the hard way). PLEASE do yourself a favor and get rid of those ASAP, it is not fun to get stranded because of these horrendous tires. Jeep should be ashamed to put such hazardous tires on their cars.

I cant believe im gonna say this.... the wrangler 4 door is actually a better buy than the new "land cruiser".... I thought the land cruiser would offer more passenger and driver space and comfort. I was wrong... sat in one today and was shocked by how cramped I felt in the driver seat and in the second row. I am 5"11 and weigh about 200LBS on a good day. So yeah, not overweight or huge by any means. Where as in the wrangler I feel more comfrotable and have way more space for my legs and my knees dont graze against the center console unlike the Landcruisers center console.

Was the Ram’s transfer case in Neutral? Well, does it even matter?
@Cloud30000
@Cloud30000 3 күн бұрын
Not for this test; the extra load from the transfer case is minimal when the transmission is already in neutral. You just don’t want to tow it long distances that way, as back spinning the force against the transfer cause is not good for it.

Question Why connect tow rope to pass. side of truck and driver side of jeep? At an angle instead of same side straight? Just curious
@Cloud30000
@Cloud30000 3 күн бұрын
I think it has something to do with shifting\keeping the weight to the center of mass by running across both vehicles, if I remember correctly (I haven’t needed to pull anyone out of a ditch yet). I think Matt’s Off-road Recovery has more details on specifics.

@Cloud30000 I agree with what you say. There for sure pulling someone out of short distance. The length of that rope and the distance. They're pulling the rope straightens out and now the truck is offset. I was just curious why they did it that way if there was a reason or no thought at all. To be honest. Bridle on both ends would work the best for a straight pull. Thank you for your insight

It’s an off road low traction situation; all the stress is released by the tires spinning and slipping, like their tug of war matches. They definitely don’t want to try this on pavement, as that would absolutely hurt the drivetrain.

@Cloud30000even off-road, this is very hard on the jeep.
@Cloud30000
@Cloud30000 3 күн бұрын
@@ReformedBrant off-roading is hard on the jeep; every time you hit a rock or ledge and the tires spin, you put the same stress on the drive train as it tries to push through the rock. That’s why many mfg’s state that off-roading voids the warrantee, even if the vehicle was made for off-roading.

@Cloud30000 so you’re retracting your prior statement???
@Cloud30000
@Cloud30000 2 күн бұрын
@@ReformedBrantI’m saying that this test is no harder on the powertrain than just rock crawling is. If you think that jeeps should stop rock crawling because of that, then they should avoid this test as well. However, if you think rock crawling is ok, then this is also ok. Both are equally unsafe for the Jeep powertrain, and both are equally safe for the powertrain. The point is they are equal. I expect a Jeep powertrain used often for rock crawling will not last as long as a highway queen, but it should still handle it pretty good and last for years. Same thing here, doing this regularly will cause more wear, but it will takes doing this testing over the coarse of years to notice any major issues from it.
