Well what a find.....we have an 08 with just over 60, 000 miles on it...and it's been doing the engine light thing...so we are replacing sensors...the latest is the ekg, and the catalytic converter...we like the jeep, so we will bite the bullet, and hopefully get through these new annoying problems. The fact that your jeep did 304, 000 miles alone is quite amazing..and now you a whole new life of mile potential..that 3.8 engine is good and the oil usage issues are apparently eased if you use 10/30...and just keep an eye on it... we have exactly that same jeep..the Sahara unlimited.....I'm hoping you will post updates on what you want to see it as...enjoyed your presentation....keep it up

Exactly why after looking for a 4x4 to go wheeling and camping with I ended up with a isuzu trooper. I just couldn't justify paying that kind of money for what you get. I was looking for a jeep, land Rover, land cruiser, samurai, something cool and fun but quickly found out so is everyone else and prices are outrageous. $1900 for a boxy old rust free trooper and $700 for mud tires is my idea of 'budget ' 4x4

Nice Jeep! The old 3.8 doesn't get much love, but my 08 Rubi runs like new and the engine has been bulletproof. I've got 140k on mine, so it is just a baby compared to this one! I've no doubt it will hit 300k. It has no rust other than on the gas tank skid plate, despite 13 Indiana winters with plenty of road salt. I've run mostly Mobil 1 oil and Fram Ultra filters in it, changed every 6k miles. I change plugs every 40k and differential/T-case/Transmission fluid every 25k to 35k. Mine has a 2" spacer lift and 33" tires, and a 6 speed manual. It has been off-road all over the country, so outside of maintenance, it has not been babied. I did replace rusty rock rails with "new" ones off Craigslist. I had them line-X'd and I also put new Quadratec wheels on it 2 years ago. These are tough, durable, and reliabel machines. I'll still have mine 10 years from now.

My good friend has a 1st gen Jeep Liberty with over 320,000 miles on it and it's still going strong. Mostly highway miles for a work commute but good maintenance is a key in the engine surviving this long. Don't know of anything going wrong with it just regular maintenance. I know it's an exception but good to see a Wrangler doing well with this many miles.

I had an 02 Liberty that I drove forever. High mileage. It ran great the whole time I had it with the exception of a funky neutral safety switch that the dealership couldn’t figure out. I finally found a mechanic who knew what was going on. Otherwise it was reliable. Terrible gas mileage though.

This is good to know. My JK 2dr Rubi with manual box has a 2.5" lift and 285/70/17 wheels. For most of its life it had slightly larger tyres. 305/70/17. It now has 215K Km (Roughly 120K Miles) and its also still going. The gearbox is a bit rough/clunky but its been like that since 30K km when I got it in 2012 (2010 model) so I assume its normal. Only had to replace the starter and the clutch so far. Water still dripping from the exhaust in the morning (My grandfather used to say is a good sign 🙂 ) Before this i had a TJ 06 model, Miss that guzzler quite a bit! and think of getting another one. a 2dr jk vs TJ in terms of power and sluggishness is about the same in my opinion. But the TJ with autobox sounded a whole lot better with the cats removed.

Depends on the level of "rebuilt". He didn't mention that. Could've been just a top rebuild (valve job), a valve and rings, or all the way and change cams and crank. But if maintenance was followed as he was told, it should not have required a rebuild of any sort. Unless the engine overheated or something... I would've have questioned the rebuild. I had Jeeps and I did need some repairs, but then, I was pretty rough on them... ;)

Go to your local auto store and buy a patch tire kit (plugs) and patch your own tire. You should have a patch kit in your trunk while off road. I have an 07 Rubicon JKU that has now done 265K kilometres (about 165K Miles). I have travelled all over this great country (deserts mainly, but also high country, beaches, sand, mud, rocks etc. ). You name it I have been there! Pretty much 200K kilometres (125K miles about) have been off road. And some very gnarly places. Thing is, I really dont know why people want to can the JKU. It has never let me down. It has proven itself time and again, pulled out stuck Toyota, Nissans, Landrovers etc etc etc. and taken me to some of the most beautiful places you could see. It has never let me down. It has been kept pretty much stock standard except for a 2" lift, HD rear springs and Mud Terrain tyres. It has standard bumpers etc. No winch: I rely on mud traxs - 2 minutes and you are out! When in the remote outback, I sleep in the Jeep. Everything I need is able to be snuck inside or on top in a roof rack, including fuel, water, food, spares, lighting, tents etc. There is just no way that I will be getting rid of the JKU. Even the missus says I should and can keep it. Howzat!!

Honestly he’s not qualified to talk about it since he’s only put 2000 miles on it. On top of that it’s not reliable if it’s been rebuilt. that’s cool it’s rebuilt and working but not the same and doesn’t really count when talking about reliability imo.
@Michael_ryan914 жыл бұрын
Honestly almost all these videos people always say o ya the engine was rebuilt or trans was rebuilt and to me that automaticlly means it doesnt count. I can rebuild anything over and over and keep it going 5 million miles if i wanted.

This channel is purely jeep fangirls and they know truly nothing about cars. They said the 4runner was worse than the wrangler jl because the interior was dated and the engine is old. I was wishing they did the review at 100k miles on each😂 wrangler on a tow truck and 4runner just getting broken in

I paid $21k more and got a brand spanking new one similarly equipped, 2018. I am unsure if that was a good deal based on it having 300,000 miles more. 21k will cover a lot of repairs so maybe it was a good deal if you look at it that way. Either way I hope he enjoys the wrangler and drives it for a long time!
@mexicoadventure12363 жыл бұрын
With 21k he can put a new motor, new transmission and have enough money to lift it, put nice wheels and tires, suspension components and make it out performed a stock jeep!
@The_Opinion_of_Matt4 жыл бұрын
If he has any problems with the engine he should just swap in the 3.6 L V6 Pentastar. Much better engine. I'm not sure why the previous owners didn't do that rather than rebuild the 3.8L.
@Mailmartinviljoen2 ай бұрын
Then you may as well say swap it out for a Hemi or LS. Swapping the engine needs a whole lot of other things to happen with regards to the electronics, cluster and all that.
@The_Opinion_of_Matt2 ай бұрын
@@Mailmartinviljoen Wranglers are designed around the 3.6L. Dropping a hemi into one can bring all kinds of new problems that KZbinrs don't tell you about. Extra weight means new springs. Extra power means upgrading the rest of the drivetrain to handle the increased power. Brakes should be upgraded for the additional weight and power.

Don't think this is a good video for identifying reliability since you've only had it 2k miles

Looks like it is in great shape. Enjoy making new memories with it and your family. Welcome to the Jeep family. We started with a 05 LJ and have added a mint 98 TJ. Now recently added a unicorn 89 YJ with 74K on it! Have fun. That is what it is all about.

I wonder why people rebuild when u can grab an engine from a dodge van in a junk yard
@Clay-i7y8 ай бұрын
Junk yards are usually crashed vehicles. Then they are sitting in the elements often exposed to rain, snow etc... How would you even been able to pick a good one from a junk yard?

As a person who is in the market for a Jeep this deal isn’t bad. Not saying it’s good but it’s not bad. Just looking at Jeeps this morning and could only find 1 Jeep similar to his specs under 10k. Now there are some older two door Jeeps under 10k from the 90s.

Mine 2007 JKU has 221k miles on it and still going strong. The moral of the story keep it stock and use it on the road more this will last longer than modification and off-road abuse.
