Great video. I love the looks. They should make the pro 4x looks optional on other trims instead of old man chrome. I bet the pro 4x look would sell so many times more. Engine and transmission are great. Fantastic upgrades.

The Titan forums will tell you the OE Grabbers weakness is mud. Great on road behavior for a 33”, since it’s p metric not LT, but at the expense of mud traction. Here in the dessert no precipitation, no mud, no problem.

he stopped way to early, it would have made it, TFL, is very very critical of nissan , they are never of chevy , ford or ram, and they suck up to toyota, like saying nissan needs premium fuel for top power ratings, well gm's 6.2 also needs premium fuel for there power ratings, but never say that , and look at their video of razor rocks, with titan and trail boss and titan made it look easy going over them and trail boss struggled, but put down titan, and praised trail boss,

I was thinking of that exact video. Both trucks got through the obstacle, but the Nissan cruised through it with ease while the Trail Boss was awkward in places. Both nice trucks, but let's give Nissan credit here. The new Titan is seriously underrated, but I worry its sales won't increase because it has the stigma of being an "also-ran" truck when it is actually really competitive now.

This could potentially have to do with what the manufacturer does/does not let them do. Some of them say go ahead and take it on difficult stuff and don’t care about damage, while some may. Not sure if that’s the case here or not, but could be.

If I were doing an off-road/overland model, the interior would have neoprene seats; waterproof switches, controls and entertainment system. There'd be easily removed carpet, with rubber pad and/or bedliner coated floorboards with drain plugs. Also, I'd partner with aftermarket suppliers to offer dealer installed suspension lift/upgrades, bull bars, swing bumpers (with spare mounts), upgraded armor, dual battery, on-board air (CTIS?), exterior aux lighting, maybe a smallish built in frig, awning, upgraded tires, etc. Leave the leather, fancy stitching and fake roll bar for other models.

I've always been a Chevy/GM fan but I bought a Titan this year...and I don't regret it one bit. Titan is assembled here in America and most parts for it are manufactured here too (more than any of the Big 3). Comparatively, it is actually MORE American than those 3. I smoked a Silverado just the other day, 2nd day off the lot lol. Also, I can absolutely get that truck, with those tires through that mud...this demonstration was thrown BC we can't hurt the media vic.

Have a 2017 S RWD, took it's first run through the ice in Texas that hit a few weeks back. Absolutely no traction whatsoever, slid perpendicular in the middle of this back road that sloped on both sides into culverts. Backed up to ditch, put it in 1st gear and through 6inches of ice it got traction and made it up a hill. Full believer in operator but I get he didn't want to break anything and pay for it.
@chrisinutahpagano6774
@chrisinutahpagano6774 4 жыл бұрын
You could have pushed through it. The SKID PLATE you kept calling the bumper was wider than the middle of the track and is ment to skid along when needed. I'm surprised you didn't gun through it like you usually do with the other brands. Turn off traction control and offroad that thing. It's made for it. Keep up the great work you do! I test drove a SV with all the bells and whistles. It was a beast. I really like the steering being a little heavy (like a truck) and it had an over abundance of power. Comfy and good visibility compared to Chevy. Good interior. I'll probably go with a Pro4X trim as I off road often. Discounts and deals should bring these down at least 10k

This is one of the most capable half tons on the market. First tip, you want 400 horses.....traction control off. Second the truck has a badass locker in the rear. I own an 18 and its a beast in sticky situations. I have a 2 inch leveling kit and Mts and no locker.
@zonacrs
@zonacrs 4 жыл бұрын
I like it. More comparable to Chevy Z71 and Ford FX4. A 2 inch lift and some real tires would probably transform this thing. Same can be said for the Z71 and FX4. Do you think 35"s will clear the factory fender wells? They seem pretty tight.
@themouas
@themouas 3 жыл бұрын
The Trail Boss is no match for the Titan, it's open diff on the front, and yes, auto rear locker but once the rear lost all the traction the the front diff will also if it doesn't have enough traction. The Titan has rear locker and front ABLS which has the advantage over the Trail Boss except it's not lifted.

I currently have a 2021 Titan Pro4x and can say that they are pretty decent offroad. But... the 9 speed trans absolutely sucks and has a ton of issues. Also if you find yourself in deep mud or sand the trans will bog down and wont give you any kind of real poer to get out of the situation. The stock Bilstien struts are absolute garage and give the worst ride ever on highway and will need to be replaced with upgraded Icon or Bilstien struts. There are a bunch of Titan fb pages you can join to see for yourself all the issues. About the only thing i love about this truck is the Fender sound system. Oh and fan clutch will have to be replaced close to yearly, otherwise it sounds like an airplane on every acceleration and loses power.

A little faster thru the mud, not slower would have got you further. Needed to have switched to 4LO and locked your rear diff.! The tires could be a little more aggressive from the factory & add 2 more inches of clearance because of the trucks approach/departure angles. It's drivetrain is VERY SOLID & the 4wd works just fine. A good review but did seem a touch incomplete for those discrepancies.

Interesting video to be sure,..but I really wonder, how many actual Nissan Titan owners would bother to take their trucks into the back country like this? It's a valid question, is it not? If I owned a Titan, and I did want to drive on trails like this, the very first things I would buy and have installed would be tires ( and perhaps wheels ) that are made for these conditions. I'd bet that it's a great on-road driving and handling truck. Now I wonder when is the new bodied Nissan Frontier coming out,..there, should be a nimble truck for a on and off road driving,.... I hope!

I own a 2018 Pro 4x and I take my truck on various trails throughout Arizona. I ditched the stock tires around 5k miles for Falken Wildpeaks AT3s and I'm still riding on stock suspension. It's a simple truck, nothing fancy or gimmicky, and it has more than enough power for what most people use it for. Let's be honest, the full size truck market is now geared towards a wider range of people who don't really need a full size truck.

I'm disappointed with this drive on the hydroline. You gave up too quick, absolutely crawled the entire time. The skid plate can take the hits. Let it roll. I hate comparisons like this, because that mud was not only thick, but also very sticky. You could bring a toyota trd in next week, and the hydro line could be wetter, or dryer and make this look easy. Thus greatly misrepresents what the titan or even those tires are capable of. Also, this run has been ran through many many many times, causing these ruts to get deeper. Than when you drove the tacoma through even 6 months ago. I think the Titan would have made it through just fine, with just a little more acceleration.

I think if Nissan had thrown on some of the General Grabber A/TX tires you would have done better in the mud. But they also probably went with something that was going to be a little less aggressive, even though it's their off-road variant, not everyone will be using it as such.

The Titan would have gone through that, my 2019 Titan gets me through much worse when hunting, but you have to be confident, definitely had your mind made up about the truck before you tried, the wind dam on my 2019 F150 is lower than my Titan and would have been dragging a lot more, and ford put Pirelli Scorpions on it, now they were bad, I do agree with Daniel S. it seems the media is biased toward the Nissan, too bad they are great trucks.

Stephen, you have run the 4Runner TRD Pro through that in ICE and thrashed on it. Proving it can handle the hard stuff. I feel you must've got slapped down for that and are not allowed to bang the newbies up anymore. lol. While I agree press vehicles should be respected, people have come to your hydro Line tests to get the real deal feel. lol. You know that truck would have done it had you not been tethered back.
