I have an Emerald Nuzlocke, and I successfully got Whismur all the way to Exploud (although part of it was due to not using it much until I got to a point where Lv 40 is not considered overleveled).

Understandable. In Nuzlockes, some Pokémon become really hard to use due to evolving prohibitively late, though “prohibitively late” depends on the game you’re playing. Pseudo-Legendaries are chronic offenders of this, especially when they are available early on (This isn’t usually the case in their games of origin, but can become as such when they appear in later games. For example, in the Hoenn Titles, you can’t get Bagon until quite late in the game, and Beldum isn’t available at all until the postgame. However, in the Alola games, both can be found fairly early; Bagon is found on Route 3 AND Kala’e Bay, albeit uncommonly, and Beldum appears on Mount Hokulani). For example, Deino. If your encounter for Victory Road is a Deino in any Generation 5 game, you’re screwed. Sure, you only find it in the last area of the main game, regardless of whether you’re playing Black/White or Black 2/White 2, so it’s not too extreme, but the level requirements for evolving it all the way to Hydreigon are so high, you have to overlevel past the final opponents’ highest level team member to get it fully evolved (Ghetsis’s Hydreigon is Lv. 54 in Black and White, and Iris’s Haxorus is Lv. 59 (Lv. 63 in Challenge Mode) in Black 2 and White 2).

I love the stories they make with their nuzlocks, but what makes them great is that there are rules. They broke the rules (you can watch episode 1 where they explicitly say that if they wipe they die). They straight up tried to deceive us when they broke the rules (unlike in leafgreen with their game crashed and had to remake it). Something being considered canon is technically up to debate, but with nuzlocks, death is finite in all timelines. They broke the rules, and maqubi died on that day. That's the true ending.

With Skruchh I think the episode before he died I said to my brother that they need to get rid of Self Destruct because one of these days they are going to accidentally hit it.
