Having read (and, loving) the novel, I was elated, to find out it was being made, as a film. When I went to see it, I was NOT disappointed! Superbly cast and shot, it's one of my all-time favourites.

I wish they'd make a 2nd movie where Christine was still around, rebuilt herself after being crushed, and sits somewhere until being rediscovered again. Maybe bring back a few of the original characters.

I first watched this movie In the may or June of 1985 on the Premier film channel in the UK... 40 years on almost since watching it I'm hooked even more ...for me this was carpenters best movie Long live Christine..she's a lump of metal still a devil 👿 waiting to be smelted into another car for the remake of Christine.. this could really work with a big budget and good script n storyline with each surviving actor smoothed into a fantastic plot...

Keith's superb point is underrated perhaps in 'Christine'. Yes a demon car, but the story grows out of surrounding culture: teen issues (e.g. hormones and nerd-versus-cool), school environs, peer pressure, etc. A core of - dare I say it? - *integrity* supports the horror aspects, not just "sterile shock value" as in many such movies.

Really, Only john carpenter n stephen king can make a film about a car being genuinely scary. saying that brian de palma prob wud have done it justice too. Absolute classic movie. By the way when that interviewer asked a real good question about wether john wud release his music as an album, well john Carpenter is actually doing concerts with music from his movies. THAT wud be a good night out.

Did anyone else, cheer for the car? I'm a retired mechanic, and I was for the car, therefore not once was I scared, and I felt Buddy and his gang got what the deserved, it came across to me like Christine was the underdog and when (SPOILER) WHEN Denise and Leigh were destroying Christine I was like confused lol, No what are you doing, and the way John Carpenter did it, When Arnie Died I felt the was an accident and Christine even mourned, because she needed her host to pull energy from, it's what I felt from the Movie. Lol yeah I was for the Car lol❤

I've heard several Numbers of Savoy's, Seneca's Belvedere's and Fury's were used. Sad really because today they'd use Prop cars made custom made by some restoration group and CGI. But these were the times before that. I am currently looking for a Christine Clone. I just want one to make perfect all the way around and go to events here in Northern Nevada like Rockabilly Riot and Hot August Nights. So they say 19 running and 2 for parts. Makes sense but so sad. And the One that was built out of all the remaining parts After the Movie fetched $198,000 at Christie's Auction.

Part of why Stephen King chose the Plymouth Fury was that while it was a good car in its day, it never managed to become a classic car like the Corvette or Thunderbird. Today they would have to use replicas since it's so hard to find disposable Savoys and Belvederes (let alone Furys) nowadays. It's easier to build replicas with modern engines and transmissions that are reliable.

If I could be present at this conference 😔 the burning questions I have ! 🙂 1) let’s talk dialogue ..who came up with this script and the classic lines from Keith Gordon’s role and Buddy “ as it ever occurred to you that part of being a parent is trying to kill you kids “ And so much more ! Not only was carpenter a master director in his own right , how bout the Christine sound track !! Wow ..

I'll tell you something else, our main 3 living human actors did a great job for their real first big role, usually 1 will have that experience but all 3, wow, That's a lot of young shoulders, but what I'd like to address is William Ostrander who played Buddy Rippington, he was in 7 scenes really: 1 The School Shop 2 The Game 3 Darnell's Garage 4 Outside Liquor store 5 In his car 6 At the station 7 His last Run I don't think I'm forgetting anything, open to any if I am. Maybe 8 if you want to say running into Darnell's Garage, but that's a sub scene to Darnell's Garage so that's meh...so 7 scenes, and yet he is such a good bully/thug he really brings you to not like him, his acting is on par to where you feel the dread of his presence he leaves a bad taste and feeling seeing and hearing him, just like a Bully. That's really good acting with just 7 scenes and really it's 2 scenes that catapult his hatred when he Stabbed that yogurt, (taught that cream a lesson) and when he lead the destruction (rape) of Christine, (there used to be a psychological break down and metaphor look at of Christine on YT I highly recommend, if it's still here to be found, it really brings more to the story and absolutely will make you cheer for the car.) But those 2 scenes are the big boosts the others as things that are like filler. And then something interesting happens at the end of Buddy's life you sort of and can almost feel bad for the character as he is being stalked and terrorized by a car possessed by a Demon. Re watch the scene but look at it from Buddy's point of view he thinks it's Cunningham just messing around he had NO IDEA it was going to Escalate into murder and certainly didn't think it was a fight for his life or he probably wouldn't have stopped drinking and certainly wouldn't have gotten out. But knowing what happened to Moochie, he should have been out of town. A cool metaphor and psychological breakdown of Christine, is in the very beginning Bad to the Bone, she walks by and is being looked over and gawked by men who look at her with lusting eyes, then in her mirror she looks back in concern watching a man following her from behind. Not unlike a woman walking down the dark street at night all alone, and she's stopped, in her tracks, as this man pops her hood and holds on to her while looking under and up her, she slams the hood shut on his grasp in defense. And then another man she thinks is there to help, but isn't as he flicks his ash at her she's had enough tired of feeling threatened she ends his abuse and assault. But things like that, or when Arnie and Dennis find her she is mourning the death of her previous owner and because George is so old, there isn't enough energy for her to draw on and heal herself. There's even that part where George yells, "AND THEY'LL BE NO BRINGING HER BACK AS I'M GETTING ME A CONDO AND SELLING THIS SH**HOLE!!!" Watch his eyes as he looks to the right in thought to how can he talk to her without blowing the cover or how dangerous it is to talk to Christine, he says this so she will know this is it, there will be no coming back to this place because George won't be there. Because if you recall later George tells Dennis he made his brother get rid of Christine after the death of both his daughter and Wife, for decency, course the car came back a week later...who knows what happened to the people that took her....and I'm sure he tried to get rid of her after his brother died and before Arnie came along but she came back home, the only home she's known mourning the only man who ever really loved her, she didn't know that care and love from anyone again until Arnie came along. I also think until that night in Darnell's Garage at the end, Christine has been going out alone, this was Arnie's first joint ride killing or attempt he wasn't ready for her to suddenly stop and I do not believe she meant to kill him in the Movie and even mourns when he dies, she worked so hard to bring him in and closer to her heart and built that trust, she wouldn't have simply killed him so quickly especially when she mourns him, not something she's ever done for any of her victims. I'm a Master Mechanic and I like fixing cars and helping people and I won't lie over 40 years I've come to view cars as my Patients and help them too I've always been a inanimate object has life kind of guy think it stems from learning about cars from my Dad who was also a Master mechanic and he called them He or She and I had no friends growing up and saw personality in cars and named them lol I might be crazy but I can fix your car. Anyway all be safe and well and thanks for this post thumbs up ❤

I get heat for this all the time, but maybe someone out there sees what I see. I'm a writer and kind of a filmmaker and, uh, I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but I can take criticism. Have at it. Anyway, I always view CHRISTINE as a below-the-radar love story between Arnie and Dennis. I cannot set that aside in my mind. Maybe it was intentional and intrinsic to the book or maybe it was nuanced by the director. Christine, disguised as a menacing car, is simply a murderous yet passive-aggressive chick who comes between the two guys. Also, another tangential sexual aspect to this film, and perhaps all films in which Keith Gordon worked as a young actor, is the fact that Keith's teen idol good looks always seem to have gone unmentioned or perhaps he disguised himself as a dork. I always expect Keith's characters will take off his glasses and reveal that he isn't a nerdy librarian. I've always admired Keith at all the stages of his career -- even today.
