Great video. I want to make to remarks: 1. Published Adventures also show you what kind of adventures the creators of the game had in mind when they designed it. 2. It is also helpful when they give you short adventure ideas in some pages of the GM section, like the old Star Wars game did. 3. The procedures given in the old DMG or the Rules Cyclopedia are also amazing. 4. I have run games for several forever DMs, and I can tell you, 90% of them were the worst players I have ever seen. I also think that a published adventure is important to show the rules, setting and style of a new game. Sometimes an adventure is included in a rulebook but most often not. just reading the Call of Cthulhu rules back in the day would NOT have shown you how adventures should run in that game.

Yeah, the Disc World Series is perhaps not that accessible in sequence. I think the suggestions you’ve got are people’s favorites. I’ve only read parts of it - my favorites: Rincewind. The Watch. The witches.

Maybe I missed it, were you going to do a commentary on the direction of Free League Publishing?

Not really, as I discussed FLP in more depth later in that episode. I pointed out I think Free League is biting off more than they can chew in respect to the number of fires they have irons in but I wasn't going to go off on a tangent about it. Not sure why you commented about it on this video though since that FLP discussion takes place on EP 1115. ~ Jeff

@@Thegaminggangapologies this is the one that came open as “most recent “. On my phone. I so totally get that and it has me concerned as well. I’ve got a ton of players clamoring for Blade Runnet content and it looks like their release schedule is once a year. That being said they do such a good job with starter boxes I love it when they come out with a new one. I’m not quite sure why they have Dragonbane, Forbidden Lands, Symbaroum(2 versions), The One Ring(2 versions), into the odd and Borg. I’d pick 1-2 fantasy backgrounds and go with those
