As far as I'm aware, having higher DPI gives less input lag with diminishing returns. Above 1000 DPI there's really no meaningful difference. Since the DPI is effectively the shutter speed for your mouse sensor, the more images it captures per second means less input lag and more accurate information.

You're confusing DPI with polling rate. DPI is how many counts the mouse gives for an inch of movement. Polling rate is how often the mouse sends its counts to the PC.

@@StruggleButtons Right, and having a DPI equal to, or higher than, the polling rate, will give more accurate information. Since most mouses have polling rates of 1000Hz, it makes sense to use a DPI of 1000 or higher.

@ILikeTuwtles I'm late but for DPI just stick with 1600. Most mice like to work in specific numbers even if customizable so 400, 800, 1600, 3200 etc. 1600 is the best sweet spot for nowadays, running higher is doable but you'll have to adjust windows settings and older games might have an issue with setting a proper low sensitivity to compensate. Diminishing returns hits hard after 1600 too. As for polling rate, 1000hz is fine, 2000hz is nice, above is unnecessary as long as you have a top tier mouse unless you're doing a tourney and really wanna go for the minimum latency possible.
