Yeah, and Duel Links even confirms he did die as when you unlock him, he legit questions how he's still alive. Though Pegasaus also does so peculiarly, but you find out that the Duel Monsters era is based on the Manga's version of the story, despite the anime english dub. But regardless of version, Bones "dies" in all 3, Manga, Sub AND Dub. as unlike Pegasus who was seen perfectly fine in GX and did survive in the anime, Bonz is never seen again despite Yami Bakura stating he'll "let him out later" just to get past the censors. And knowing how cruel Yami Bakura is.... it makes Bonz fate even sadder that he, a kid with a deformity who was bullied as a child was just left to die.

I’m glad to see you doing top 10 lists again after two years and I really love them. Hope you do more of them in the future. One overkill Yugioh villain moment I’d like to mention is when Quattro faced off against Bronk and Caswell. The way Giant Grinder attacked them both so brutally to the point where Caswell ended breaking his arm was definitely over the top. I know it was mentioned in the previous overkill top 10 list but I’m just casually mentioning it.

The dark signers never win against the main characters(with the exception of Kalin who technically knocked Yusei off his duel runner)! Hell even Rex Goodwin lost twice! I totally agree with your choice for number one. Seeing someone win with zero turns was completely shocking back then. It also established Sartorius as a powerful adversary immediately, so the writers achieved their goal perfectly. However looking back twenty years later that duel gives me goosebumps for another reason as well. It foreshadowed the modern game strikingly well, where duels last for just a few turns, duelists go for long combos (Ojin used all eight of his cards on his first turn), and especially by emphasising the role of hand traps in countering those combos. Finally I would like to remind you that this comes from a guy (Sartorius) whose main trait in the anime was that he could predict the future.

The yuri vs alexis duel reminds me again of the apparent fact that what differentiates a good duelist from a bad duelist seems to not just be the deck they have, but more the fact that good duelists seem to have an ability to draw cards that they want or need more often than bad duelists. Its as if that is a superpower the duelists can train in-universe, even discounting the actual superpowers that show that from a supernatural angle, like the millenium puzzle, shining draw, or the many times cards are put on top of a characters deck in 5ds. Looking at all the great duelist characters that can just draw what they want even without supernatural interference, like kaiba and zane regularly drawing their 3 monster + polymerization opening hand, which should be extremely rare, characters like jack, kaito and shark rarely, if ever, having a deaddraw, and the one gx episodes with the sandwichees and the tarzan guy, which shows that drawing seems to be a power that certain characters possess more or less of, and that it can be trained.

Zone vs Aporia is so underrated, I love final stands that end up hopeless, they create very memorable moments.

@TGSAnime there was also Pegasus vs Kaiba in Duelist Kingdom, where Pegasus decked Kaiba out using the latter's own Crush Card (not to mention turning Kaiba's favorite monster into a Toon to mock him). There's also Yami Marik vs Bakura, which was pretty much just Yami Marik flexing on Bakura. Supreme King vs Jim Cook in GX was also a major villain flex (not to mention the debut of Super Poly). Sayer had 2 villain overkill moments vs Leo and then vs Carly, and then was the victim of one with Dark Signer Carly vs Sayer. Charlie McCoy from Zexal had a "villain overkill moment" where he beat a duelist with like 3 Xyz monsters out using Number 7: Lucky Straight (which was an insane flex for a "villain of the week" character who never showed up again after that two-parter). Sevens had a few as well, with the first Nail vs Yuga duel, the first Asana vs Yuga duel, Yuo Goha vs Yuga Ohdo, and Yuga Goha vs Yuo Goha

@@Ked7 He did beat Kaiba. It was directly stated during the three way duel between Fujiwara, Johan and Judai that they were the last 3 duelists on earth that had not already succumbed to Darkness. Considering DSoD follows the manga canon and not the anime canon, and Kaiba is directly shown to still be around in GX, he would not have been in the past dueling Atem. The anime and manga continuities for DM are completely different. Also there's more than enough differences between the GX anime and manga to show that Darkness does not exist in the manga continuity where Kaiba would have gone to the past with Atem.

With regard to the aporia duel, when aporia summoned grannel and z-one described it as a very weak card yusei and the others were immediatedly shocked by that statement let alone that aporia immediately summoned it on his very 1st turn. As for the alexis vs yuri duel that episode occurred 1 to 3 days before the new ancient gear structure's deck release in japanese. That duel was essentially an ad for the deck. They even got crowler's voice actor to voice an ad for the deck during and after the episode aired that very day.

One thing the next Yugioh Anime needs is more duels with side characters and minor villains. Like we should have seen Weevil and Rex actually win some duels so that way they actually seemed more like a threat. Like even if its against npc like characters, just show them on their final turns winning duels. Like I hate how so few side characters get duels without the Protagonist involved in later Yugioh shows.

To be fair, Weevil did beat Rex on-screen. I get your point that their abilities should have been showcased more, but I'm personally of the opinion that their on-screen record doesn't really matter. A character like Rex or Mako or Mai is known to be a good duelist in-universe. Do we need to see them beating people to prove it? There's definitely some duels that weren't shown that I'd have loved to see (I think Odion earning his and Marik's Locator Cards in particular would have been a bunch of interesting duels), but eh. Nobody thinks Tea is a better duelist than someone like Mai or Bandit Keith despite her on-screen record being much better.

@RiverShock I 100% agree that just because they are bad on screen doesn't mean that they are necessarily bad In Universe. However a good use of Filler is to give the spotlight to characters who don't get enough attention in the canon episodes. Like you could replace the entire Virtual World arc that disrupted the Battle City Finals by giving us Rex vs Espa Roba, Weevil and Mako vs unknown Duelists, Mai's duels, ect. Like Weevil has a 1 - 4 on screen record and a 3 - 5 official record. Like giving us those 3 extra Duels just give more variety. Like when he goes to Duel Atem in Waking the Dragons hes 1 - 3 on screen, he's not really a threat, but show his off screen duels and he's 3 - 3. Like Mia is 8-7-2 in the show and 5 of those were in Flashbacks and 4 were the last turn of the Duel. But we know she had at between 7-11 off-screen wins (depending on if she doubled the Bet like Joey tends to) in Duelists Kingdom and Battle City due to how many star chips or locator cards she won. Like I would rather show more of Mai's duels and not have any Big 5 duels.

I have 2 honourable mentions: 1) Valon (Waking the Dragons) - He duels Rebecca and Duke at the same time, despite having monsters and Mirror Force, he flies through and wipes them on his first turn. 2) Banner (as a shadow rider) - defeats Alexis and Chad, separate duels but uses a mysterious meteor card and wipes each of them.

One thing I kind of find interesting about Aporia is that we pretty much knew 99% of what his deck consisted of. Remember, in the anime, Meklord Emperor Granel, Skiel, and Wisel are actually five individual monsters each, so that takes up 15 cards in his deck already. They also each have a Core card in order to automatically get out each part of their respective Meklord Emperor immediately, so that's 18 cards. They each also have a Meklord Army card, putting it at 21. Aporia then has his two boss monsters, Meklord Astro Mekanikle and Meklord Astro Dragon Asterisk, bringing his total to 23. Moving onto the Spell cards, he has at least two Afterglow cards, an Aurora Draw, Boon of the Meklord Emperor, Chaos Blast, Chaos Bloom, Fortissimo the Mobile Fortress, Future Destruction, and Lock-On Laser, bringing it up to 32. Finally, with the Trap cards, he has Chaos Infinity, Cursed Synchro, Damage Boost, Double Tribute, High Rate Draw, Level Cannon, and Power Gravity, bringing our final card count to 39. Makes you wonder what that last card is. I can't exactly remember how the duel went, but in terms of deck building logic, I would probably say a third copy of Afterglow. The way it works, just playing one of them removes from play the other two copies in the deck, so having a third doesn't really affect the endgame Aporia was going for, and since this was the key card of his strategy to beat Z-one, it would make sense that he would put as many copies of that in his deck as possible.

It very unlikely was the same deck. Aporia mentions somewhere along the lines that Afterglow is the hope he received from 5DS or Leo, something like that. Which makes it sound like he rebuilt his deck in preparation of facing Z-ONE, turning his deck from a burn deck into a self-mill deck for Afterglow.

@_Vengeance_ My counter argument to that is that there literally wasn't any time for him to completely rebuild his deck before his duel against Z-one. Seriously, there were only 4 episodes between his loss to Leo and his duel with Z-one. In my opinion, characters don't change decks or have a complete rebuild of their deck until after a storyline concludes. He likely only added Afterglow to his deck before his duel with Z-one, but it largely remained unchanged.

I just watched a video regarding several duels with a deck with the win condition playing Holactie the Creator of Light. Almost all the duels that were in the video were either a first turn win or second turn win (with a few exceptions at the beginning of the game. If you haven’t made an updated video regarding the archetype for the god cards, I think it might be time. Please let me know if you would like a link of the video for reference. The main deck uses the god cards and a few Horus cards as support, along with some good extra deck cards that work really well together.

The S4 Duel between Asuka and Judai and the guy and his girl is my favorite. Man just wanted to play against Judai but Judai straight up OTK’d him without a single care for his enjoyment or Asuka’s joy. Amazing.

I don’t agree with #9 being overkill. To me, going overkill is doing it to an opponent who didn’t completely deserve it. Queen really deserved it for what she did to Earth and for cheating in the duel, while Ai just did enough to win despite the cheat - I really don’t see the overkill here.

Honestly, Marik's biggest feat to date is dropping The Winged Dragon of Ra against Bakura and raising its ATK to 8500+, then proceeding to wipe Bakura out along with his entire field in a single attack. I'd probably put that at #10 instead of Kaiba making a random thug brick his pants vs. Obelisk.

It technically couldn’t work for the list, but I still feel like Kaiba vs Grandpa in the manga could’ve at least been an honorable mention. In the manga the duel happened in front of a crowd, but you only get to see part of it and it just showed how strong Kaiba’s deck is since his first encounter with Yugi. After the win, Kaiba reveals that he science’d his own version of a penalty game and sicked Blue-Eyes on Grandpa, which was why he was hospitalized.
